I'd like to see someone who can teach me about makeup / styles etc - who?

I'd like to be taught how to apply my make up, have my colours done and get some advice on what clothes shapes suit me.

I am happy to travel to London/Surrey/Kent for this advice.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

I'm 44 but don't necessarily want to look that old - in fact I have quite young skin for my age and only a few grey hairs so don't want to be steered to a middle aged style per se. I also have some work changes coming up so I want advice on my casual look but also how to look suited and booted.

I don't know if there is somewhere that does the full service but I am planning to use the John Lewis personal shopping service - they definitely give advice on colours and styles. Their website gives full details.

Very interested in the makeup question - hopefully others will give recommendations. I've had a MAC make up lesson but wasn't majorly impressed

I find Bobby brown make up counter very helpful. I also follow Lisa Eldridge on you tube

I went Fiona Ingham, who is the House of Colour consultant in Primrose Hill (Google her). In two separate sessions we did which colours suit me and make up, and then which styles and shapes suit me). I'm mid 30s. It was fun, confidence-boosting and just incredibly useful - I love my wardrobe, I love my make up and I always feel I look good these days.

For make up, I know that the Giorgio Armani counter in Harvey Nichols do lessons. I have not asked, but it is probably one of those services where you can later redeem the cost against products

I use a make up artist called Lina Cameron for big events and parties. She does lessons too and is really lovely and down to earth. She's not affiliated to one brand too, which is great as she's not trying to sell you products that may not be completely suitable. She's based at Marble Arch.

For makeup, Fenwick on Bond Street has a resident makeup artist who is lovely and not tied to any brand - it costs £50 but that's offset against what you spend on products.

House of colour cover all that. I deliberated a long time before paying out but I wish I'd done it sooner. You might not follow all the "rules" to the letter but you will definitely get plenty of ideas.

I did contact a Colour Me Beautiful lady a couple of days ago and am still waiting for a reponse so hopefully she will get back to me.

I'm going to enquire about the Fenwick lady too.

Where exactly are you? I am on the border of all three places you listed so if you can be a little more specific with where you are my recommendations could be better!

I've booked the Fenwick lady for make up. Still waiting for someone to get back to me regarding the other topics though.
