Pre-owned watch

Do you own one? I've always said I wanted a Cartier for my 40th. With the big day in Jan, I realise we can't afford one! I have a budget of 1,500 which I was thinking of spending on an LV bag and purse, but saw a pre-owned watch in a posh pawn broker in Central London & wondered what the deal with buying a pre- owned would be. Xx

I have a pre owned gold omega which in very happy with
General advice - buy from a reputable source with a detailed receipt
Have it regularly serviced
Be aware repairs in future could be costly

A genuine Cartier won't lose value but £1500 seems a little on the low end for a decent piece, even pre owned. Just make sure you do your research.

Dp has a beautiful 1960s watch he bought a couple of years ago. He loves it. He bought it from a place that specialises in renovating watches.

My DH bought me a pre-owned Cartier Tank for our 10th wedding anniversary (a few years back) as it was something I had dreamed of owning for many years. As pp have said buy from a reputable place and get all the papers and the box and you will be fine. They are more expensive atm with it being Christmas but mine was still (slightly) more than twice your budget back then.

Shop around carefully and there should be no problem with it being pre-owned

DH has bought pre-owned watches before. There's a pretty decent market in some of the high end ones and they can end up being worth more than you paid for them. You need to find a reputable shop - there's a place in west London he has used but can't remember the name off the top of my head. Will ask him when he gets back.

I've a pre owned Rolex, I don't know what it cost but it was considerably cheaper than buying new and I love that it has a history even if I don't know what the history is.

Thanks - I've had a nose around, and see that they are all quite old - 9-15yrs seemed to be the norm.
