So, my trusty DM elena boots are sadly kaput. Dh gas got me some clarks marquette silk boots (can't link on phone ) they are quite ok but rather wide at the top - is this acceptable? ? I'm used to knee high boots being nearly skin tight such that there is no gap however I accept that this may a bit 1997 or something. I would say that there is a 1cm gap as I could slide my hand in .

Duo or Muffy and Binky - whatever they're called now - good idea, but they didn't go small enough on the calf for me and their designs are really conservative. I never liked any of them.

what about Fly London boots? Are they slim? I mean, I'm not skinny, but just would actually like my boots to fit. Sigh. Even if the shoe shops stated the circumference of the boot or something, then I'd have some clue. Think this must be a new thing, as was never an issue before - boots just fitted.

aha fly london do indeed give the circumference of their boots for mid-calf - so the Mol2 is 30cm in my size. shall get a tape measure out and see.
Mol 2

i have always struggled to find boots to fit over my very well developed calves ( not because I am much of a gym bunny just a strange genetic thing inherited from my dad who looks like he has a tennis ball sewed into each calf) so this is very much good News for me.

clearly, boots should be available to all, no matter what size or shape our calves are! but, boot makers should have lovely boots in a variety of sizes.

I have the same issue. Try Jones The Bootmaker - they sell boots for slim calves.

Or stick with ankle boots....

The next time I need skinny-calf boots, I'll be trying The Bootmakers.

I just bought these and they are very slim fit www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10701_10001_052010524760_-1 think they're adjustable, actually.

BuggersMuddle · 15/12/2015 22:57

I have fairly well developed calves, but am short, so tend to find most are gappy these days (except high end designers which seem to be very slim fit).

Growing up in the 90s, my first pair of knee high boots needed a lace to pull them up initially (I was a size 8 and didn't train, so way skinnier in the calves back then!), so I do think this has changed.

Mamia15 · 16/12/2015 07:20

Yes they have changed as I have a 15 year old pair of knee high boots from NEXT which fit well. I suppose with more women being bigger they're having to adjust the sizing of their standard boots...
