Do you prefer the way you look in the mirror or on photos?

Someone mentioned this to me recently and it'd never really crossed my mind before!
Apparently we tend to prefer the way we look in a mirror because it's what we are used to seeing and photos are the true way people see us as mirrors obviously reverse the image.

When I look in the mirror I see a fairly delicate face with big eyes and plump lips, when I see photos of myself I see someone with a wonky face and big ugly lips!

Do you feel the same about yourself?

I also think I looked better in picture (not more than mirror, but better than now!) six months ago - when I was 10kg lighter. :(

I am so ugly in photos.

I find it momentarily upsetting when I see how unattractive I am but then heigh ho.

I'm told I am attractive in rl and it doesn't hurt my eyes to look at myself in the mirror so I can't be that much of an eyesore!

Static mirror - if I;m putting on hair, make-up looking for chin hairs , then I have control over what my face is doing. And yes, it's the way I'm used to my face looking

In a mirror in a shop, it catches me out. I see someone ........I see My MOTHER looking back........oh no it's me.
And conversely when I see a photo of my DD, I see me as a child (but she's much prettier)

In a photo, even a posed one, I look odd. I'm usually doing a smile of sorts but my nose looks wonky and my eyes look pissed (though I don't drink)
Photos of me that are random................urgh.

Mirror! It's because you move in the mirror - photos are a freeze frame and generally capture you at a bad moment, unless you are very good at posing!

Definitely mirror.

Everyone is a little bit asymmetric - if you see yourself "the wrong way round" you might not know exactly what is wrong but you know it is WRONG.

Oh Winkywinkola, that's how I feel when I look at a photo of myself - disheartened. It's my face, my body, everything I just look like a turd.

My sil is the complete opposite - she has got to be the most photogenic person ever, there is literally not one bad photo of her ever! Doesn't matter if she's smiling, pouting, pulling a funny face, it's all gorgeous. Her make up is immaculate all the time though. She's just as in rl as well. I wonder what it would be like to have that confidence, knowing you look pretty dam good in photos & rl.
