Gray hair - best natual solution ?

I have very poor quality, thin, very low volume hair, almost all turned gray because of dye usage. I am using Loreal and every time I use it, it leads to lots of hair fall, irritation on scalp, eye site weakness but I don't know what all natural products are available ? All this is leading me to depression, my hair started graying at the age of 14(probably because of head injury !!). Please help me find out any good, less damaging n possibly natural solution.

Naicecuppa - when I started growing mine out I was pure white around my hairline, then 75% grey with a patch of 50% at the back.

Grey is actually a mixture of white hair and your original colour - it just depends on the mix as to what it appears as

I've been using henna from lush for the last few months, they have a red, a blue/black and a brown. You can also adjust how much redness comes through by the way you keep it on your hair. I wrap my hair in cling film and put shower cap on and this keeps the heat in and it develops a brighter red colour.
If you leave the hair uncovered and therefore cooler the red tones won't come through so strong.
Also I like to mix up the red and brown blocks to get a shade that's right for me.
My hair is now in lovely condition and my roots (which are completely grey btw) don't need dyeing as frequently Smile

Thanks CMOT, that makes sense. I am similar to you in that I am mostly white all around my hairline, especially temples. Not sure about the rest.

I dyed my hair since I was 13, as I got older I stuck to dark brown which was my natural colour.
A couple of years ago I became allergic and bleached it instead HmmI have a pixie so could keep it in good condition.
Im now growing the bleach out and going grey. Im completely white at the front and sides getting darker towards the crown and back.
I think once you get over the growing out the dye stage you need to have a look to see if your current style suits you still. I think if I keep my hair very short it might look patchy.

This is a silver toner I used, I had bleached the darker bits of my hair to fit in with the white, so its an even colour

I'm about 60/40 white / dark and 100% white streaks, quite thick ones, at my temples.

Coco did you bleach dark hair or was it already blonde, before you did your silver toner? I am considering doing this. Would I be better off going to a salon?

I stopped getting my hair dyed about 18 months ago and am now platinum with a few strands of silver - I've never had so many compliments about my hair! However, OP if you want to carry on colouring it I can recommend the Daniel Field watercolours which cover grey without harsh chemicals.

I had been bleaching my dark (dyed) hair.
Im a bit cavalier with my hair because its, short Grin.
I had bleached it yellowish and the toner turns it silver. This picture I had dyed it a bit lighter.
Ill look for pics

The first one is yellowish bleach and then the toner on it to turn it grey

Same here, the ends are more porous because of the amount of bleach on them and it would give off a pinky lilac tinge before the first wash

Mine is a messy curly bob with dark hair underneath. It's especially messy today as been out in the wind and rain but you get the idea. I had French crops for about a year and then grew it out. It needs cut badly - so much for taking my own advice - but I get compliments loads. I use Lush Daddy-O shampoo and solid conditioner which helps with the brassiness.

If you're on fb theres a group Going Gorgeously Gray or on Pinterest, for ideas.

Go grey!
If your hair is already that bad, you need to steer away from any sort of dye.

Grey hair needs a good cut, good conditioner, and for me- more eye make up.

I'm very dark with awful white roots. Would it be possible to start dying platinum blonde for a few years before embracing the grey? I'm not ready to yet.

I think they'd have to strip your hair first. I've been gradually going lighter from dark brown, I'm dark blonde at the minute.

Another vote here for just going grey. I'm a few months in to growing the dye out, but I'm cheating and using directions dye to cover the regrowth.

Vulcan, how did you do it?

It took a long time, I started off having some blonde highlights with the foils, then had the roots done slightly lighter each time, I've found the bleached foils are making my hair dry though, so I think I'm just going to have the roots done, slightly lighter each time.

What is directions dye and where do you get it from? Please

Amother vote for growing the grey out , it's not worth subjective your self to the chemicals if you are having reactions ... 5 .5 months growth ...
