Cloud Nine straighteners, which model?

I want to buy my 13 yr old DD some straighteners for Christmas. I think Cloud nine are the way to go but do I want the ones that heat up automatically as you pick them up or the ones with controls? I don't really know much about straighteners so any opinions would be helpful. Thanks.

I have had both & they were both fab. BUT I had the touch ones (automatic switch off ones) first & they only lasted a few months before breaking. Sent them back to Cloud 9 for repair & they sent me the original style ones instead - queried why & the impression I got was that the touch ones were being discontinued so I'm wondering if they frequently break.

Thanks Madison. I had read that in some reviews so it is good to hear your experience. Think I will definitely go for the original ones.

I have had my originals for a few months now after reading lots of good reviews. However...... I'm pretty disappointed with them and keep going back to my old OLD GHDs. They almost feel like they are not "worn in" if that makes sense? My hair can be a bit of an arse to straighten (slightest hint of moisture and it blows up) but I can straighten with these, walk 100 metres on a fine day and my hair looks shit and most definitely not poker straight as it was when I left the house a few minutes before. The old GHDs are so much better.

Has anyone else found Cloud Nines to be a let down or is it just me?

Can I ask how old are your ghds? I have read that the new ones are not as good as the older models. I just don't want to spend £100 + on something she is going to find frustrating and not use. My DD has quite curly/wavy hair to get to grips with.
