How do you make small eyes appear bigger?

I've never really used a lot of make up and as I am getting a bit older feel I need to make a bit more of an effort; I have small eyes and would love to know how (with make up) I can make them look bit bigger. Please can someone advise me how to do this. I've had my eyelashes tinted yesterday as a start but still need to do a bit more ... thank you!

Smokey eyeshadow and lots of smudgy eyeliner. Also I think well defined brows help.

Carrot up the bum? Sure to produce that wide-eyed look.

I use light coloured neutral eyeshadow then liquid eyeliner and mascara. Nothing on bottom eyeline or lashes. On days when I leave out the eyeliner my eyes look tiny so that step is vital IMO.

Use eyelash curlers and add a dot of white eyeshadow in the corner of your eye.

StickyProblem · 30/10/2015 17:48

I have small brown curranty eyes and use a silvery grey shadow on the top lid, and lots of mascara. More than one colour eye shadow looks too busy.

If you have small eyes you need to use paler eye shadows not smokey colours. I use pale grey in the socket line blended down with ivory on the lid itself.

Whether you use eyeliner will depend on how deep set your eyes are: if they are deep set so that you have a small lid then eyeliner will make them look smaller and recede into your head. If you have slightly protuberant eyes so larger eyelids then eyeliner works better.

Nothing on the bottom - anything that looks like a line drawn round your eyes will focus attention on their size. You want to open them up - hence paler shadows, eyelash curlers, mascara.

Yes I forgot to mention eyelash curlers. Also I prefer lengthening mascara as opposed to volumising.

I do a slightly more subtle version of Sharon's Garbo eye make up.

This is what I do but I go easy on the socket line.

Matte eyeshadow all over the lid, concentrate a bit more on inner corners, I use MUA matte eyeshadow in Fudge. It brightens my eyes subtly and what ever is left on the brush I put it just under the lower lashes. Also the shimmery eyeshadows tend to fade if you put it straight on the eye, adding a matte base just helps it last longer. You could use an eyeshadow primer instead.

Then go in with your skin-tone shimmery/irridescent eyeshadow, Something like this

You don't have to buy the naked 3 palette, but its the only product I could think of that has a whole set of lighter shades. I tend to just look for something similar in the shops that is cheaper! It might be worth checking out youtube videos, using the naked 3 pallette, it will show you how to highlight and contour your eyes.

I really like this product as well : www.boots.com/en/Rimmel-London-Scandaleyes-Shadow-Stick_1306557/
It's great on its own with some mascara, or just use a touch under the eyes in the tear duct area.

then a light brown eyeshadow using a liner brush, apply just under the lower lash line, smudge it out a bit.
For the crease use a warm toned, soft brown/peach colour and blend it out, to define your eyes.

Mascara, lots in the center of lashes, also using the tip of the wand just kind of dab at the lower lashes. you could use false eyelashes as well, but an eyecurler should be enough.

Hope that helps OP, I wear glasses all the time, so I need to emphase my eyes a lot more Grin

Tight lining helps .see you tube .

White eyeshadow on the lower inner lid. Or flesh, depending on your skin colour. Stila has a flesh one. MAC has white, but I think it's common so other brands should have too.

I have very small eyes which I have disguised for the past 30ish years.

Pale colour over entire eyelid area. Then brush brown eyeshadow in an arch above the eye crease not in the crease. This gives the effect of a higher crease. I use a lighter brown on the inner part of the lid and a very dark brown on the outer part of the lid. Then blend to give a smokey look but don't ever take the dark colour onto the actual eyelid. this needs to stay pale. Take the eyeshadow underneath the eye like eyeliner. Don't use thin/liquid eyeliner underneath. It's too small and it closes the eye.

Black liquid liner on the eyelid and wing it out to extend the size of the eye again.

Eyelash curlers and two coats of mascara on top and bottom lashes.

Blob of pale eyeshadow on inner corner of each eye.

White eyeliner.
