Waterproof, warm attractive coat for 4 year old dd that doesn't cost the Earth?

I like the usefulness of the polarn o pyret fleece and waterproof combination but it's too pricey. I'm thinking about this one from uniqlo but neither colour is great www.uniqlo.com/uk/store/goods/153094#thumbnailSelect

Oh, and preferably covers the bum to keep her warm and dry.

My dd age 4 has a trespass one. From mountain warehouse or one of those camping type shops. It's fleece lined, properly waterproof and windproof etc and was about £20.

It also has reflective bits etc.

H&m also do some nice coats and are reasonably priced.

I just got this one for Dd who's nearly 4, covers her bum, waterproof and the zip out fleece. It's more than ive ever spent on a coat for her but the hood actually stays up, it keeps her dry and she'll get loads of wear out of it.

Blacks do the peter storm range, they are quite nice, and proper waterproof

Agree with lands end. Debenhams have them online in case they are discounting.

The mountain warehouse is a good option too.

Lands end do winter-proof jackets, squall and expedition I think. They are not puffy but are very warm. Some of them also have growalong sleeves which you can lengthen as they grow, and a mix of pockets including a big mesh one that can hold a woolly hat or a book.

I would guess the packable jacket is more summerweight but we don't own one.

Get a parka style if you can. It's a few inches longer than the jackets, so bum covering and you might even get an extra year out of it.

Vertbaudet do some gorgeous, warm, affordable coats. I've bought one for dd and ds this year.

Was just about to suggest Vertbaudet too - have bought several from there now and have always been very pleased with them.

Eek, I've just gotten carried away and bought coats from lands end and vertbaudet. Will obvs return the unsuccessful items!

Birdie the Lands End packable jackets we got I am very hopeful will be ok for the winter! they are very warm for this current weather.

Decathlon have some great ones in both the skiing and hiking ranges.

Naice, apparently the Land End jackets are good to 5 degrees so I figure with a fleece underneath they'll be fine for the whole winter. I hope!
I liked the vertbaudet coats but loved the lands end so vertbaudet are going back.

Hi Birdie I know you've already bought but as a suggestion try the Viking Kids website, they have Swedish brands and I bought 2 of mine a Didrikson, they have kept them warm last winter and they have grow sleeves so they can do another winter.

There are lots of other brands on there and some jazzier colours

Btw I contacted lands end and the lightweight jacket is good to 5 degrees if anyone is wondering.

I bought this in Honey for my 9 year old. It's a three in one parka with a zip out body warmer. It's nice material, has chest pockets and is a great length.
It isn't waterproof which I didn't realise at the time of purchase but has stood up to rain well. I'm going to use Granger's 2 in 1 wash and protect on it after its been worn for a while.
The price is good too.
