Title says it all really??

Unless you can show that the boots are defective, i.e. manufacturing fault, then I doubt it.

KatharineClifton · 26/10/2015 11:26

Doesn't a item have to be 'fit for purpose' or something like that though?

TeamBacon · 26/10/2015 11:28

Is there a fault? I took some boots back that I'd worn because one was really painful, and I realised there was a fault in the stitching so something was digging into my foot.

pdxs · 26/10/2015 15:06

which store? some are more likely to say yes (clarks) than others.

Your best bet might be to try the customer service by calling head office vs a store

nancy75 · 26/10/2015 15:09

Uncomfortable is not a fault, it is impossible to make a style of boot/ show that is comfortable for every type of foot. The suitable for purpose argument is not relevant.

Indecisivejo · 26/10/2015 17:09

They were from dune. They have amazing reviews with everyone saying how comfy they are but I wore mine out once and was in agony :( I do have weird feet tho!!

OP posts:
SolsburyHell · 26/10/2015 17:16

I would say no for reasons given above.

Generation1979 · 26/10/2015 17:17

Not unless defective. Get them on ebay!

Twinklestein · 26/10/2015 17:19

Of course not. This what ebay is for.

I have always found Dune shoes to be incredibly uncomfortable.

MotherOfFlagons · 26/10/2015 17:21

I had a pair of Dune boots which I ended up giving away. I wore them twice and they were so painful that I had to go and buy another pair of shoes to wear instead. Although they'd felt a little tight when I tried them on, I thought they would give. They didn't. :(

amarmai · 26/10/2015 17:50

can you wash the sole and heel so it looks like you wore it inside? A friend of my dd's took back a well worn pair of boots- don't know what her excuse was.

KatharineClifton · 26/10/2015 17:59

Get them on ebay!

So somebody with little money can spend all their available money on a shite unwearable pair of boots? Nice Sad

louloubelle2 · 26/10/2015 19:48

katherineclifton don't be so over dramatic. There's nothing wrong with the boots, the OP just found them uncomfortable but after she wore them outside rendering them non refundable at the shop.

That is EXACTLY what eBay is for. In fact I had to do exactly the same for some boots I was convinced would stretch to the extra half size I should have bought. I made a loss but learnt a lesson and someone has some absolute bargain Ash ankle boots that retail for £150 they bought for £50 worn once.

Ferocia · 26/10/2015 20:04

I have TK Maxx boots that rub painfully just above my ankle bone. They made a huge gouge in my legs, particularly the right one. Can I take those back? Bought earlier this month, worn 3 or 4 times (with plasters, big socks and leggings protecting my tender flesh after the first time).

Or maybe they'll soften? Suede fringey ankle boots, so they could theoretically soften up.

Judydreamsofhorses · 26/10/2015 20:25

No, you can't take them back. I just sold a pair of incredibly uncomfortable boots on eBay - I hadn't even worn them outside but the soles were scuffed from the wooden floors and the sticky label had come off the bottom. They were Ugg leather Chelsea boots and I paid £130; they sold for £57. Better £57 than nothing though, and someone got a real bargain.

Shutthatdoor · 26/10/2015 20:29

Shops are very aware of this type of thing.

Being warn outside will mean there are markings on the sole which can't be washed away

KatyS36 · 26/10/2015 20:43

I had a pair of clarks boots with a zip up the back. When worn the zip tended to buckle and took CHUNKS out of my heels. I took them back, explained very politely (but firmly) the problem and said I would be very happy with gift vouchers. I got a full refund in gift vouchers. So whilst this was probably sort of my feet i think it was a stupid design, particularly as they were on a pair of flat boots that were of the smart but comfortable type you should be able to walk long distances in.

BTW in my experience Dune sells very well on ebay if this doesn't work.

good luck

Katy

KissingFish · 26/10/2015 20:48

No, just no.

TeamBacon · 26/10/2015 20:52

Here's an idea :) ring them and ask

kinkytoes · 26/10/2015 20:59

Shouldn't you have tried them on in the shop before buying them?

outputgap · 26/10/2015 21:05

If you're stuck with them, I've just softened up some Made In England (from leather made in hell) DMs with Dr Marten balm. Pretty good stuff. Actually wore the boots today and no bleeding or blisters. Small victories...

Indecisivejo · 26/10/2015 21:06

Thanks for all the replies...the helpful ones at least!
I did try them on in shop but there's a massive difference between walking up n down in small shop to walking outside further n longer.
I will examine how bad damage is and if I can clean them or may sell on eBay.....as I said in earlier post all reviewers on dune website said they were very comfy so I'm sure whoever buys on eBay will be fine.

Next refunded me (and also sent a voucher) when some of their loafers ripped my feet to shreds. These also had "very comfy" reviews!
It's worth asking before you eBay them.
