Seeing rave reviews of this. Is it worth it?

Never tried it but watching with interest as it seems to be the thing of the moment. You can get it from m&s with 20% off at the moment.

maybemyrtle · 24/10/2015 13:50

I've been using the Pixi Glow Pads that are a bit stronger and I really like them. 20% off at the moment at M&S as bluecheese says so a good time to try.

I've tried other acid toners and they're generally good.

Bluecheese22 · 24/10/2015 15:50

Have you tried the balm? I've heard good things about that too.

MadisonMontgomery · 24/10/2015 15:51

It's okay, not amazing tho.

Nabootique · 24/10/2015 17:15

I'd recommend Bravura Calendula Toner over Pixiglow. It's cheaper as well.

DontKillMyVibe · 24/10/2015 17:32

I went through a bottle of it and can't say I noticed any particular difference to my face in comparison to any other toner that I've used.

The beauty bloggers go mad for the stuff though.

Wolpertinger · 24/10/2015 21:13

It's an OK acid toner. Seem to remember a few people trying it and reacting to it. No idea why the beauty bloggers love it quite so much it's never the most popular acid toner on here which is probably either Paula's Choice BHA or Bravura Calendula. Or if you like pads Nip Fab Dragons Blood.

Nabootique · 24/10/2015 21:35

It does depend which acid you want as well. Pixiglow and Bravura Calendula are AHA, Paula's Choice BHA and Nip+Fab Dragons Blood are salicylic.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/10/2015 21:37

Somebody on here recommended the Boots Time Delay toner. I'm really liking it, and it costs about tuppence ha'penny.

Scattymum101 · 24/10/2015 21:56

This is a big decision lol. Never realised how many options there are!!

What skin type do you have? What do you want to fix/treat/improve?

I have acne prone skin, (although it's clear atm), so giving the nip and fab dragon's blood pads a try. Avoided pixi glow as a few people said it broke them out in spots.

Scattymum101 · 25/10/2015 07:03

At the moment my skin is really dull and I keep breaking out in big spots which is very unusual for me. I usually have quite dry skin but I think my hormones are trying to settle after pregnancy and I'm having lots of crazy hormone symptoms like spots, greasy hair and mood swings etc.

I've got quite a lot of black heads on my nose that I'd like to try and reduce, dryness around my nose and cheeks but oily forehead and just generally brightening up my skin.

I love Pixi Glow. I love the smell and the fact it feels gentle yet my skin feels instantly smoother and brighter.

Def worth a try I think.

Wolpertinger · 25/10/2015 07:40

Spots and blackheads you will be far better with a BHA/salicylic acid product than an AHA. AHA doesn't dissolve in oil while BHA does and wil magic the blackheads away and with consistent use, prevent the spots appearing.

Paula's Choice 2% BHA is the business as is LRP Effaclar Duo, Clinique Mild Clarifying Lotion is nice but not nearly as much salicylic, not tried the Dragons Blood pads but they seem universally loved. Clearasil pads are the budget option but I hated all the alcohol.

Scattymum101 · 25/10/2015 08:03

Paula's choice sounds good but I couldn't justify the price Halloween Shock

Will the salicylic be hard on my dry patches? X

I have the pixiglow, it's very mild, the sort of thing you can use every day. It brightens my skin, I'll probably repurchase. If you have spots you'd be better off with salicylic acid instead of glycolic. I have the effaclar duo, it's good. I also have the Clarins exfoliating toner and that is much stronger - I use it if I'm feeling spotty but I can only use that a few times a week. I'm going to get the dragons blood pads next as they're highly recommended on here.

Scattymum101 · 25/10/2015 08:13

I don't usually have spots ever really so not sure whether to buy something long term for that or ride it out and see if it settles before investing in expensive skin care for long term as it sounds like I'd need a different product for my skin at the moment than j would normally.

OP posts:
Wolpertinger · 25/10/2015 08:17

You don't have to use it everyday if you find it too much. TBH my skin is better if I use an acid twice a day but I'm quite lazy and often just use it often enough to preven the spots appearing.

Without trying it you won't know but for me it helped the dry bits as it exfoliated the flakes off and made it all much better.

Nabootique · 25/10/2015 08:21

Give the Dragons Blood pads a go. You don't want a lot of alcohol if you have dry bits and their content is low. Also inexpensive if the spots clear up and you want to move on to glycolic.

Scattymum101 · 25/10/2015 08:44

Right with give those a bash thanks. I have boots vouchers for my birthday so going to get some of the no7 moisturiser as its great on my skin, and the hot cloth cleanser and try and really cleanse, tone and moisturiser twice a day xx

I think the dragon's blood pads would be good to try. They have hyluronic acid in them too that will be good for the drier parts of your skin. I'm finding them pretty good for blackheads and congestion on my t-zone.

If the spots are new, you don't want to go in all guns blazing on them and aggravate it. Hormonal stuff will settle down soon by itself.

No7 was on 3 for 2 last week so you can get something else too. Smile

MrsCampbellBlack · 25/10/2015 15:21

I've been using pixi glow for a week - usually use nip & fab pads and suddenly have spots round my mouth and I don't really get spots.

Scattymum101 · 25/10/2015 18:10

Ok having a look at the nip and tuck pads - dragons blood or glycolic fix?
Have read good things about the botanics serum and toner so will give them a go since they're 1/3 off before investing in anything more expensive. Have also put the facial oil in my basket.

Sorry have just seen that my question was answered earlier lol.
The reviews on boots for the dragons blood pads don't seem as good as the glycolic. Decisions decisions lol x
