For €15GrinShock

It need a bit of a clean up. Leather needs cleaned and the lock, key and logos are a little tarnished and greenSad

Anyone have any advice on how to do this without ruining the bag.

It worn on the corners at the bottom and two studs are missing. I don't care though. I'm soo happy I think I'm drunkGrin

Oh that serial number on Google says it's the most faked, links to purse forum and eBay Sad

BrandNewAndImproved · 22/10/2015 14:28

Can you get some leather sofa Polish to Polish it up?

JugglingTheBalls · 22/10/2015 14:29

Sad dexter. You're right. It's a really good fake though. Real leather with raw lining. Slight curve on lock etc. I'm a bit gutted but it's still a bargain and I don't have to be too careful when I'm trying to polish it upGrin

Oh come on all - I had a fake Bayswater and it was better made than the real Mulberry I've got.

OP, wear it and love it.

squoosh · 22/10/2015 14:48

Shame if you were hoping to sell it on (not being snide, that's exactly what I'd do!)

But it's still a real leather bag that you can love and use. It's a win!

diddl · 22/10/2015 15:16

Well a leather bag that you like for £15 is good, isn't it?

For me, the trunk on the metal disc doesn't look quite right, but it's not a very clear pic.

diddl · 22/10/2015 15:19

That's the site that I put up dexter & it was that that made me wonder about the logo on the disc.

Boosiehs · 22/10/2015 15:20

I bought a fake mulberry in Thailand and it still is amazing. It's as well made as the real one I was given as a present (lucky I know).

Rock on OP. A great leather bag for not a lot of money.

JugglingTheBalls · 22/10/2015 15:27

Have to say it did cross my mind to sell it but only because I wanted a brown one.

Brand new I've just put sofa leather polish on it an it's worked a treat.

Have to say I love itGrin

Not to worry!

The logo on the disc somehow looks a bit sharper on the real one iyswim.

Well now that you know, it's just as easy to say "leather bag for £15-bargain!"

Although if you really don't want it...Wink

diddl · 22/10/2015 15:50

Sorry, keep putting £ instead of €!

0pheliaBalls · 22/10/2015 16:53

I own/sell Mulberry bags and I'm sorry to say that this one's fake. It is lovely though and most people wouldn't be able to tell the difference. I don't like the idea of fake bags bought from websites or whatever but seeing as you got in in a charity shop and the charity benefitted I'd just use it if you love it. It's amazing what you can get in chazzas, I've found a few Mulberrys (and other designers) in the past.

The Purse Forum used to be excellent for authentication but now they'll only authenticate if there's a link to an auction or online sale for some reason.

faustina · 22/10/2015 17:00

I am guessing you probably won't since you know it's a fake, but for anyone else ... DON'T take it into a Mulberry shop to have it authenticated. If it turns out to be a fake they will not give it back to you. I think I read that on the Purse Forum

FozzieMK · 22/10/2015 17:11

Have to say that not all Mulberry Bayswater East West bags are unlined. I got one from the Bicester Mulberry outlet quite a few years ago as a special purchase which is lined with the brown mulberry lining with little trees on it.

TheBitchOfDestiny · 22/10/2015 17:51

aww never mind op

it is still a gorgeous bag and I for one wouldn't have had a clue its fake and I am a handbag obsessive. so am sure no one else will know either

and 15 for a good leather bag is still a total bargain anyway!

WanderingTrolley1 · 22/10/2015 17:55

"Designer" handbags in charity shops are probably fake. I've seen a few - along with fake designer shoes.

cressetmama · 22/10/2015 22:07

If it works for you, the leather is good and you are happy to use it, what have you got to lose? It sounds as if it's cleaned up well and Mulberry is much faked. I bought a pre-loved Lambertson Truex handbag from EBay for $80 and it is fantastic. I rather like it not being quite pristine because it looks as if I have owned it from new. Considering they (LT) cost $$$$ retail, are no longer made, and I would not spend that -even if I won the lottery- for a bag, I am Grin Grin.

The Handbag Spa will clean and restore it for you - worth the outlay

Catgirl83 · 21/02/2016 20:56

OP, try Colonil gel (you can buy it on eBay) for cleaning up the leather. It's what Mulberry recommend for their bags and it works brilliantly.

Lucybell1971 · 25/07/2022 18:32

Hi was just wondering if my mulberry bag is real serial code 418036

TimBoothseyes · 25/07/2022 18:55

Leather nourishing cream will bring it up nicely. Does the Mulberry tag have a number on the back?
