Face oil for 30's

I'm starting to get fine lines around my eyes and forehead, and just don't glow at the moment. I do have a 1 year old sleep thief though so I have to live with 5 hours broken sleep most nights. I currently use Liz Earle cleanse and polish and also her exfoliator, and the brightening mask at times, but I don't really like the moisturisers. I want something that makes my skin soft, hydrated and glowy, I don't need serious anti aging yet and I prefer a moisturiser that feels moisturising! I like the idea of face oils, also natural products are a preference (but some super science wonder product would be fine too!) I wondered about Rosehip oil? Is the pure stuff good? Or what oils do you recommend for someone who wants to get some glow and minimise the fine lines they have?

I opened your thread to suggest rosehip oil. :)

NattyGolfJerkin · 19/10/2015 13:09

Mentioned this on the other recent oil thread but I like the Kiehl's Midnight Recovery oil

Buglife · 19/10/2015 13:49

I like the idea of intensive overnight things that make you wake up looking like a well rested 25 year old!

mayum I will get some, it's worth a try!

Not tried it but The Body Shop face oils had good write up in the Telegraph Stella mag a couple of weeks ago

I tried trilogy's rosehip oil and it did nothing for me, ditto the kiehls. I feel like both were too.... Liquid-y, if that makes sense, they made my skin feel oily but not replenished.

I used to love estee lauders advanced night repair, but since they reformulated it it's not quite as good. But I remember putting it on and waking up and it was like it had literally filled out my fine lines. It is somehow a thicker texture though, which I think I prefer.

The clarins blue orchid is my favourite of the 'thinner' oils, and the only one that makes my skin actually feel like it's had a drink. I would say definitely try some out though, I felt a lot were overrated and I think it really does depend on your skin whether you'll benefit from an oil.

Balance Me have a lovely one called Radiance Face oil. It has rosehip in - I use at night in the winter and it's lovely.

Boots Botanics organic facial oil. It has rosehip in too, and smells gorgeous. All the organic skincare has rose oil in and smells soooo good.

I second the clarins blue orchid suggestion; I always repurchase it. I also miss the old formulation of Lauder night repair. Ain't buying it anymore.

Clarins blue orchid, Aurelia cell repair night oil is also amazing you can get a try me size that lasts ages. Ren omega serum is also very good.

What is your actual skin type? I haven't used the Clarins ones myself, but I believe Blue Orchid is good for dehydrated (so everyone)/more normal skin, whereas Lotus is better for oily types and the Santal one is for dry skin.

The Boots Botanics one is good, but if you are oily it might be a bit heavy. Good Things Argan Oil is very light and might be a better budget buy, depending on your skin type.

Rosehip oil can be quite heavy and even a bit clogging if it's not a good quality one. Fushi's gets the best ratings I've found.

My favourite for oils is MV Organics. I have the Instant Revival Booster and the Jojoba oil and they are both amazing. They are expensive but you only need two drops so they last for ages. The Jojoba is particularly light and easily absorbed. You can tell it's really good quality, and Jojoba is closest to natural oils in the skin.

Grin Hooray for jojoba!

Buglife · 20/10/2015 14:27

Wow thanks for the response :) my skin type is pretty average. My nose and forehead can look a bit shiney but my cheeks and around the eyes need hydrating. Can have large pores around the nose and forehead too. It's not sensitive in the slightest though so can take a lot of ingredients.

If you're dehydrated in places (lacking in water in the skin) rather than dry (lacking in oil) a hydrating serum, then a light oil might be a better bet. Good hydrating serums I would recommend are Hylamide (very popular on here), Apivita Hydration Serum, or if you're feeling spendy, the Sarah Chapman Instense Hydration Booster is bloody lovely.
