Could you link please?

It's impossible to say without knowing exactly which coat you have! Confused

That said, having seen some of the prices on-line, my initial thought was that for £180+ you've got a choice of serious insulated winter coats from well known brands ie North Face, Beghaus, Rab, J Wolfskin etc.

How do Aigle stand up against some of the brands above?

MaliaGrace · 18/10/2015 21:17

OP is it this one ..

I see now that the 'range' simply consists of different colours not styles. I wouldn't have paid £260 for a parka if my primary concern was warmth. It honestly doesn't look that warm.

I guess in terms of warmth and something waterproof, I'd possibly consider this from North Face ie the Arctic Parka.

Can you return the coat if necessary?

Yep that's the one, herdwick is the style of the Coat, aigle is the brand.

It's got a wooly lining and is windproof/waterproof/taped seams etc. I did nt pay £260!!! I got a deal! Just wondered I anyone had one ... The mega warm ones are always so heavy, tried on a Didrikson and it was so bulky ...

maliagrace Aigle is a fantastic quality brand, they are French. They design stuff more for urban wear than the likes of say North Face, who also design for serious outdoor types into extreme weather activities, but the technical quality is definitely up there alongside them.

No denying they are expensive though, but again, only in the same way North Face, Jack Wolfskin, Berghaus etc are. I believe they do coats up to about £400, so it's possible that coat may be thinner than you want, but that will be based on your expectation of affordability and value for money rather than the quality of the item. If that makes sense.

louloubelle2 · 18/10/2015 21:41

dreadful I've had two waterproof parkas from Aigle and a trench coat, none needing to be as warm as you are hoping this will be, as I just wanted waterproof, but was pleased with them all. Their Wellington boots are also among the best. Hope you are not disappointed, let us know!

MaliaGrace · 18/10/2015 21:44

Fair enough lou - I know they are French etc but couldnt work out if you're paying simply for the name or paying for quality. From what you've said, it seems the quality is top notch.

Dreadful the price you paid seems really good then.

DreadfulSpiller · 18/10/2015 22:06

Thanks Lou Lou, the quality does feel fab and the styling is much nicer than the north face Etc as I'm sick of looking like I'm of to climb the Eiger on the school run! I'll go to our local dept store and try on the thicker versions to double check. So difficult to imagine being freezing cold at the mo as its so mild.
