Best shampoo and conditioner???

Ok I'm on the hunt again for a new shampoo and conditioner.
My hair needs help, it falls loads when washing and brushing, has split ends, is dry but can't use anything rich and heavy as it leaves a coating on my hair, I get lots of static and my scalp gets very dry flaky and itchy.
Big ask I know lol! Have tried almost everything on the shelves!

I second the aussie range but I hate the smell of the stuff. It's sickly and reminds me of energy drinks or really bad bubble gum for some reason. I'd use it more if it had a nicer smelling version.

Wish I could use Aussie as I like smell but it makes scalp really itchy n flaky-too much fragrance me thinks.

I'm using theorie green tea shampoo and conditioner at the moment (from tkmaxx) it's lovely. My hair is so soft, it's light enough to use every day, only need a tiny bit and it's sulphate and other bad things free.

Dowser · 16/10/2015 09:52

I love the Aussie range but as I've gone as much nasty chemical free as I can I've been using faith in nature shampoo and conditioner.

You can often get them on special offer in oxfam

NotTodaySatan · 16/10/2015 09:54

I hate the smell of the Aussie stuff too. It's cloyingly sweet and artificial. Boke.

I've been loving the Herbal Essences Naked range. The one that is White Tea and Mint scented. It smells really fresh and clean and the shampoo is really clarifying and removes all buildup of products. Highly recommend.

Asteria36 · 16/10/2015 09:56

I use Faith in Nature - minimal chemicals so far less irritation. Jason shampoo and conditioners are supposed to be good too. Neither are so ridiculously woo that you smell like a raging hippy! Larger Waitrose stores have them and goo health-food shops, or Amazon.

I like various ones from the Herbel Essences range, tend to use the blue, red or golden orange ones. My hair is long, fine and gets static in the winter and I find the golden orange one best for that (over other brands I've used). £1.74 in Savers at moment or on offer in Tescos.

I have recently switched shampoo/conditioner. After using Aveda Shampure for 20 years I am now using Jasons Jojoba.

I have a really sensitive scalp/skin and thick curly hair, prone to dryness, couldn't recommend Jasons enough.

DD's hair is the same as mine and both of our hair is fab, much shinier and glossy/healthy looking than with Shampure.

PosterEh · 16/10/2015 10:05

I use Aveda Shampure and would really recommend it. It's makes my hair lovely and doesn't irritate my skin like everything else seems to (I'd be interested in a cheaper alternative though).

lavendersun · 16/10/2015 10:24

Poster - Jasons Jojoba is really nice, my skin is very very sensitive.

It is cheaper to buy but I find myself using a pump and a half rather than barely a pump full of Shampure (the Aveda pumps fit the Jasons' bottles and I have got 20 years worth of pumps).

I think it will still be cheaper to use even if I use twice as much (which I don't) - I didn't switch for cost reasons though, just because my hair changed for the worse and Jasons seems to have fixed it.

Thanks lavender I might see if I can get hold of it here.

Redken Extreme Shampoo & conditioner plus their protein treatment from the same range. Transformed my brittle, damaged & falling out hair into soft healthy locks. I also overhauled my diet (lots of healthy fats, protein & vitamin E packed almonds etc). You need to address the inside with these issues too.

squoosh · 16/10/2015 11:30

L'Oreal Fibrology shampoo.

I don't bother with conditioner as it just weighs my hair down.

Knockmesideways · 16/10/2015 11:35

I had a problem with my hair earlier in the year. It was literally making my hands look like a werewolf's - every time I washed my hair I was shedding loads and it was all over the shower.

I went to the GP for tests -nothing medically wrong. I ended up using Pantene's Breakage Defence shampoo and conditioner. I'm not a keen fan of Pentene usually as I can get an itchy scalp. But this one was fine. Scalp was fine and the shedding/breaking stopped.

I now use it on and off and use whatever's to hand in between. I also Aussie 3 minute restore conditioner once a week or so as my hair got really dry in the summer and it put it back to rights. Agree about the smell of Aussie products - I'd use it more often if it weren't so overpowering!

ThePocPocHunt · 16/10/2015 13:47

I bought some childs farm shampoo and conditioner for my eczema-suffering DS and thought I would try it myself as it smells so lovely! Was very pleased with the results Smile. It is marketed for sensitive/eczema prone skin and is very light so no build up on hair. They have it in Boots and Superdrug.

BestBeforeDate · 16/10/2015 13:53

I was going to suggest Faith in Nature, but Asteria beat me to it. At the moment I'm using Seaweed and Citrus - it's very light and has a lovely fragrance. It makes my hair feel properly clean, if you know what I mean.

Indecisivejo · 16/10/2015 13:54

Thanks everyone,
I have ordered a Jason's one to try first (I hope it's the last lol)

The Aussie stuff is the work of the devil - very drying.

By far the best I have found is Loreal Absolut Repair shampoo & conditioner.

BeaBoo · 16/10/2015 13:57

I have the exact same problems as you. Someone on here recommended Jasons brand shampoo. It has no SLS or any other nasty stuff in it and it's really light on your hair, but leaves it really smooth and shiny. I got the lavender shampoo and conditioner from Amazon.
