Jewellery advice - what to do with a diamond (!)

Hi there

I need your help - long story, but I damaged my engagement ring in an accident, and my insurer replaced it with a like for like. However, they then offered me the original stone (recut to remove the damage) at scrap price, which was reasonable. From a sentimental perspective i want to keep it (i have heard MANY stories about my husband chosing it!), but am not sure what to do with it. I don't need another ring as I have an eternity ring i wear on my right hand already, so just won't wear another. So I was thinking of having it set into either a pendant or brooch... but not sure... i already have a diamond pendant I wore at our wedding but its antique and a bit fragile, so maybe a more everyday one would be good...

Any suggestions?!

Thanks all!

Emma

I would do a pendant, or if you can match it with a similar stone, a pair of earrings.

Also could use it for a bracelet or keep it for a child bracelet/necklace if you have a DD, would be a nice family heirloom to pass on

All good ideas... you could also use it for a top stone in a pendant and have another coloured stone set underneath... like a sapphire or ruby. That type of stone might be £200and around similar to do the work. In Hatton Garden try holts for stones, bibbs to do the settings

Stones have to be bigger to look good on a pendant vs ring hence suggestion. I like a dark sapphire (blue black) as an everyday choice. .. A trilliant shape or whatever you like

Do a pendant. You'll wear it more than you think!

You could add additional coloured stones as pdxs mentioned, if you wanted to add to the sentiment you could add the "birth"stones for the month you were engaged/married/DC's were born.

Take it to Hatton Garden if London based or the jewellery quarter in Birmingham if you are more "Midlands" based.

Good luck!
