Another skincare question. If I tell you what I have, will you tell me what to do when!

I've always been a bit slap dash about skin care, usually just shoving some day cream on with SPF in the morning and then using eye make up remover, a cleanser and a night cream in the evening. My skin is okay - not beautiful but by no means awful.

This is what I now currently own:
eye make up remover - Garnier
Avene really gentle cleanser
Nip and Fab Dragon's Blood pads
Boots Time Delay toner (really like this, so thanks to whoever rec'd it)
Superdrug radiance day and night creams

At the moment I'm starting the day with toner and day cream.
At night, eye make up comes off, cleanse with Avene and then a N&F pad, tone, then night cream.

Does this sound about right? Too much? Too little? Am I missing anything? Don't mention muslin cloths - been there, done it and have no intention of going back there!

I'm pleased with how my skin looks and feels generally, but am noticing a bit of dryness around my mouth, especially now that the weather is changing.

Thanks if you got to the end of this!

Nobody? :( I could be doing this all wrong and you lot just don't care! When my face melts, I'll blame MN.

I'll answer if you like, Remus but you probably won't want to hear it Grin

Nabootique · 06/10/2015 19:41

Sounds okay, but I'd use the cleanser in the morning as well. Do you have any specific skin concerns? A serum can be introduced for them.

Nabootique · 06/10/2015 19:44

Sorry, I'm a knob. Missed the bit about dryness. Try Body Shop Vitamin E Serum in Oil after toning, before moisturiser. Also glycolic pads might suit you better than salicylic. Nip fab do them.

fieldfare · 06/10/2015 19:44

Now the weather is changing I go a slightly heavier day cream (still with spf) and use a face oil at night after cleansing instead of a cream.

Face oil at night? Not too much not slapped on but skin feels better in the morning

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/10/2015 20:10

I was using a sample of Clarins oil and loved it, but I just can't justify the cost at the mo. I'll put it on my Christmas list!

Flo - I'm listening (although reserve the right to disagree!). I don't like faff - if it's a faff, I won't do it.

I bought the Dragon's Blood because that was the one on offer. I do quite like them - they've deffo got rid of the tiny white under the skin spots I had, even in so short a time of using them.

You need a separate spf to the moisturiser!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/10/2015 20:37

I rarely see the sun. Moisturiser has SPF 15 in it.

I don't either, unfortunately, but separate spf is still a must. You'd have to trowel on the moisturiser to get the f15 protection.

fieldfare · 06/10/2015 21:09

It's the Clarins orchid oil I use. It lasts for ages, the bottle I'm using now I got for my birthday in April and it's just under a third full. So, not bad value when it lasts so long.

Maraki · 06/10/2015 21:35

It all sounds ok to me. The superdrug radiance cream is not very moisturising in my opinion, you may wish to try a rich heavy night cream like astral or nivea in the blue pot? But don't risk it if you are prone to spots.
I honestly think that a separate sunscreen during the winter in the UK if you work in an office is OTT. However, if you are out and about all day, that's a different story.
If you are really thorough with your cleansing in the evening and your skin passes the 'white towel test' then I don't see the point of a cleanser in the morning. It may dry you more. If you are still dry after trying a heavy night cream, then maybe add a hyaluron serum (like Eucerin) before your daily moisturiser or try Clarins Hydra Quench spf 15 for dry skin (sorry, they are both around £30). I wouldn't go for a heavier day cream as your makeup will slip off.
Good luck x

Thanks all. Am definitely not going to bother with a separate sun cream - it would make me feel greasy and dirty, I think. I'll try to stretch to the Clarins oil. I know I like it and that it works for me, so it wouldn't be a waste of money.
