Decent Slant Tweezers

So it's like a Tweezers graveyard here. I am looking at 6 pairs of tweezers that don't work. 2 pairs are Tweezerman and I am posting them back for resharpening (not that they were that good to start off with). I have tried ones from Poundland, Tesco, Boots. So let's have your recommendations for a decent pair of slant tweezers before it's too late and my eyebrows take on the persona of Denis Healey (GRHS)

I have a pair of Japanese ones bought at liberty. .. poss shu uemera? Will check tonight but still doing well after 8 years. Tweezerman ones are ok (have a travel pair) not as good. Here I think more expensive has turned out better.. we're around £20 I think

I love the Boots own brand ones but look at the tips I hate tweezerman even though my mother raves about them

Thank you both. I try to look at the tips to see if they will be any good but honestly I have no idea. They all look the same to me. It's when you put them against your skin you realise that they don't grab anything.

Tweezerman all the way, I've had mine for over 15 years, if I lost them I'd be in Boots the same day buying another one. There isn't a hair that can escape their grasp.

Rubis (a Swiss brand) tweezers are great, so much better than the Tweezerman ones I used to have.

I bought them after Sali Hughes recommended them in her Guardian articles.

I have seen those Linus. Where did you buy them from? I can see some on Amazon with free P&P .

I didn't buy mine in the UK, sorry but I just checked the Sali Hughes article and she links to the beautybay website.

I second Rubis! I love mine - I have a slanted pair and a pointed pair. Bought them almost 15 years ago and they're still going great, very sharp. Got mine from Space NK, I don't know if they still stock them. Well worth the price.

Yeah Boots own brand are great, they close together perfectly, they were under a fiver, you can check them out in the packet before buying to make sure. Tweezers that don't close perfectly are an abomination and need to be destroyed. Angry

amarmai · 05/10/2015 20:56

i sharpen my tweezers by pulling them over fine sandpaper while holding them tightly closed.

travailtotravel · 05/10/2015 21:17

I have a jar of them too. Tweezerman best so far but i do like boots own brand too.

The rest get relegated to round the house jobs, like pulling the hair from plug holes. Hmmmm, nice.

maybemyrtle · 05/10/2015 21:35

Before you buy them, squeeze them and hold them against the light. Any glimmer shining through means they will not work well. I have a 15 year old pair of Ruby & Millie ones from Boots, think they were made under licence by tweezerman, that are still amazing.

I also recommend rubis. Much better than tweezerman Smile
