HELP! Hubby is being made redundant and he is currently on a very good wage so we need to start cutting back our spending in all areas.I currently use a lot of clarins and emma hardie on my face but obviously I can't justify that sort of expense anymore.Has anyone used these brands and found anything cheaper that has worked for them and if so what,i stood for ages in boots yesterday looking confused at the choices.Im coming up to 41 and i have combination skin which sees the occasional couple of spots,im lucky and don't seem to have any wrinkles yet so any recommendations would be helpful

So sorry about your husband's job Sad

Here's some cheapos that I get along well with:

Cleansing - the Superfacialist range by Una Brennan in Boots. I absolutely adore the Vitamin C cleaning oil. I also love the Rose cleanser and the Neroli cleanser. Everything priced under a tenner and often on offer

Face - I love Rimmel Match Perfection or Rimmel Wake Me Up, both about ?8. Wake Me Up concealer also excellent
Sleek blushers (?5 each or trios for ?10) are really brilliant and last all day
Sleek face powder (?5) - also no complaints

Eyes - brilliant eye shadow palettes from MUA for under a fiver, or single shadows for a quid. Mascara - I've heard great things about Maybelline, Miss Sporty and NYC, all in Superdrug for about ?5

Nails - Barry M or Rimmel Salon Pro range are excellent, all under a fiver

Lips - MUA lipsticks cost a quid. I have one and I do find it a bit drying, but other than that it's fine. Kate Moss Rimmel range are excellent. Revlon lipsticks are fab and are often on 2 for ?10 in Boots or Superdrug

Good luck Smile

I used to use clarins but have gone back to e45. Much cheaper and my skin is better.

Rummikub, do you use E45 for cleansing too. I rate it as a hand and body moisturiser.

I've been using Aldi own brand face wipes and Q10 moisturiser for a few months now. The Clinique lady commented on my well taken care of skin when doing a make up (I had bought DDs Clinique stuff beforehand!). Did make me smile!

For cleansing, I recommend the Body Shop chamomile cleansing oil to replace the Emma Hardie. It's not very very cheap, but it's cheaper than the EH and a bottle lasts ages.

I always look out for nice freebies in magazines and stock up. Still have some Elemis pro-collagen from a few months ago and have recently got some Balance Me (one of my favourite brands) with Marie Claire. This offer is still on I think.

I haven't tried e45 for cleansing but I will try that. I use the cream overnight and the lotion before make up.
I got distracted by other brands but nothing beats e45 for me.

I don't buy mascara anymore, I also look out for freebies in magazines, especially glamour for a pound :)
