Mirena coil and possible acne

I'm just writing on here as I'm overthinking things by myself. I had the Mirena coil fitted about 3 months ago and I'm not sure if it is aggravating my skin. I seem to have whiteheads on the bottom half of my face, in particular the left. I've always had slightly troublesome skin but I am also quite an anxious person and have realised recently that I'm a picker etc etc. They don't seem hormonal as they are lumps or particularly sore. Im a massage therapist and I am also thinking that I'm not getting all the oil off my face and I'm causing problems by touching my skin without realising. If it is the coil, has anyone else had this? If so how long did it take to settle down?

The sppots seem to appear in weekly cycles so possibly they are appearing a few days after I'm massaging. If it is the coil, has anyone else had this? If so how long did it take to settle down? I'm getting married in June and I don't want bad skin for it.

I hated the mirena coil, it made me spotty, fat and angry.

I gave it 6 months as my gp kept saying it'd settle down. It didn't. I removed it myself and was back to normal within about 6 weeks.

You removed it yourself? Are you on any form on contraception now? I'm not sure if the spots are caused by the Mirena, they are like whiteheads, not like the painful hormonal ones people talk about. I'm the same as you were, how long can you hold out?

Yes I removed it myself as my gp was basically refusing to remove it, and it was very easy. I have the copper coil now, non hormonal and I love it. Obviously not recommending you do that though.

If you think your skin has got worse since having it fitted then that's probably not a coincidence. Have you been back to your gp about it?

I'm going tomorrow morning, the only benefit to the coil is I'm period free. But my skin is getting me down a lot. Considering asking to have it removed and go on Yasmin which people seem to love.

I just don't want it removed and then regret it because I'm wrongly associated bad skin with Mirena. I think the only way to confirm it is to hold out another month and see what happens

I've been advised to have a Mirena, (47, periods irregular and lots of hot flushes) but need to read more before going ahead. What is Yasmin please?
