Sensible Shoe Help

Allinafankle · 17/09/2015 18:16

I have a foot injury and my doctor has "prescribed" shoes with a rigid sole and I have no idea what to look for. I struggle with shoes at the best of times and these sound like they're going to be uncomfortable Grin I'm normally in Converse or Skechers which clearly aren't what the doctor ordered! I'm going on holiday next week and am struggling to walk at the moment so need to find something quickly!

do these fit the bill?

Maybe ... I don't normally get on very well with Clarks shoes but I see they come in half sizes AND wide fitting so there is hope. I have a Clarks near me so I'll check them out tomorrow. Thanks!

M&S shoes are worth a look. Very comfortable usually and solid soles aplenty.

RonaldMcDonald · 18/09/2015 01:20

Dr Marten's or even the dreaded fitflops

Allinafankle · 18/09/2015 07:17

Thanks both. M&S never usually fit me very well and I did think about DMs but even in my student days when I really wanted to wear them I couldn't break them in! Fitflops are a possibility though, if I can find somewhere locally to try them on. Ideally I'd like the closed-in ones which are harder to track down than the sandally ones. Some good suggestions for my shopping trip today though!

fitflop trainers would be ideal
they have a narrower footbed than the sandals so you may need to size up if you have wide feet

Allinafankle · 18/09/2015 08:12

Yes I had a pair of fitflop trainers years ago and they were great. I think I did size up which is why I'd like to try them on but not sure which stores sell them.

Just to say you have my sympathy. Was in same position a few months ago, exacerbated by the swelling. I eventually found somethin by Josef Siebel.

FWIW a podiatrist once told me to steer clear of fitflops with a foot injury.

Allinafankle · 18/09/2015 10:14

Thanks for the sympathy BeaufortBelle but Sad at the Fitflop comment. Now what?! Confused
