Can't get rid of open pores on nose

curriegirl · 12/09/2015 16:52

So my make up looks awful. I have tried primers such as smash box, the benefit one and also the anti chaffing stuff recommended but make up is just sitting in them. Any thoughts/recommendations?

I had awful open pores in my nose but they have improved a HELL of a lot after using Clearisil 5 in 1 cleansing pads twice a day; bloody brilliant!

Gatekeeper · 12/09/2015 16:58

also fullers earth as a nose mask- clay cat litter is also great (honest)!

Distilled witch hazel on a cotton ball wiped a few times over your open pores morning and evening works really really well

squoosh · 12/09/2015 22:20

Glycolic acid is great for pores.

Going to try ALL of these suggestions.....

The only thing that works on big open pores and blackheads is a Bha/salicylic acid
Neutrpgena have a good one

RyanORiley · 13/09/2015 01:35

Liquid Gold followed by a good clay mask with either salicylic or lactic acid (Manaji for salicylic or Cattier for lactic). I think Glamglow do a mud mask that has gylcolic, salicylic, lactic and pyruvic acids in it, and I am keen to give that a try so make it a one step process.

Nope. Glycolic acid is much more effective on my skin.

HeffalumpsnWoozles · 13/09/2015 08:21

squoosh is there any certain brand with glycolic? I get so confused trying to hunt for the products with acids in them.

Kennington · 13/09/2015 09:38

The Paula's choice website has a lot of info on this problem
I use glycolic plus salicylic acid then a mud mask once a week
This made a big difference
Otherwise I use a mattifying primer Clinique matte hydrater for drying the day - it optically improves things at least
I was told retinol based vit a products improves the problem but I don't know if the publications are all industry sponsored and therefore biased towards retinols
Anyway redermic r contains a fair bit

Are they sebaceous filaments ? If so, not much you can do about them I'm afraid.

Coastingit · 13/09/2015 10:06

Salycilic gets into pores and cleans them out. Glycolic can't do that, although it does a good smoothing job. If you have sebaceous filaments salycilic products like Paula's Choice salycilic lotion will help. I alternate between both types of acid depending what my skin needs - glycolic for general smoothing and brightening, or salycilic if it feels clogged.

HeyMacWey · 13/09/2015 11:29

My holy grail sebaceous pore cleaning product is cosrx blackheads power liquid. It's Korean so you'll need to buy online - beats western Bha's by a mile.
Have a scout on the Asian beauty thread for recommended eBay sellers.

Clarins do an exfoliating toner, though it does contain some fragrance and alcohol. Paula's choice products are fragrance free.

bittapitta · 13/09/2015 22:59

Thanks for the link titscrossed I was watching this thread for tips but I think actually I have very visible sebaceous filaments. Oh well.

KeatsiePie · 13/09/2015 23:21

bittapitta I do as well. I read the link - thanks, titscrossed - and then the link within it about oils. Does anyone know whether coconut oil might be good for sebaceous filaments? Because, well, I already have coconut oil .. [lazy emoticon]
