I have thick dark brown hair that could tolerate any shampoo and conditioner. As I'm getting older (41) its changing.
I have long grey strands now and the texture is more course.
Ive also always had long straight hair. now I've had it cut it gone really wavy!

Can anyone recommend a shampoo /conditioner to try please.
I quite like it being wavy after a lifetime of straight hair.

I really like Aveeda shampoos/conditioners - in particular the Shampure one.

It's spendy but I really recommend Living Proof. It's available in Space NK and M&S.

ihatethecold · 11/09/2015 18:31

How spendy?

Pureology. Expensive but worth it, and you need the smallest amounts. I used Kerastase for over a decade. Like you my hair changed as I entered my 40s. I have a lot of hair, and it's kinky rather than wavy or straight. I certainly benefited from ditching the chemical heavy products.

Me too amarmai. The only time I have shampoo is when I have my hair cut at the hairdresser...ruins it for at least a week!

amarmai · 11/09/2015 22:08

yes rrc -great isn't it !

phoolani · 11/09/2015 22:17

Try putting conditioner first, then shampoo, it's a good first fix. Then treat yourself to some l'oreal extraordinary oil, which is worth its weight in gold when my hair gets course.

Zampa · 11/09/2015 22:30

Living Proof is about £20 a bottle (!). However, you don't need to use a lot and mine lasted a couple of months.

Olaplex!! You can order online but right now it's mostly offered as an in-salon treatment. Google it - it's being heralded as the second coming for hair, completely transforms and repairs hair texture and quality. I'm planning on having it done in the next few weeks, can't wait!

ihatethecold · 12/09/2015 10:45

Great thanks. I will google the recommendations. Not heard of most of these.
I used to use Biolage. Now just whatever is cheap and on offer due to being a bit skint.

Where do I get olaplex from?
I've googled it and it looks like it's used when lightening hair which I don't do.

OP posts:
Grok · 12/09/2015 11:45

People use it when lightening hair because bleach damages hair and olaplex fixes that damage or something. But I don't think it's only for ppl who lighten hair - I dye my hair red. I think you have to go into a hair salon and have it done as a treatment there. Ask your hair salon if you can do it there

ihatethecold · 12/09/2015 11:47

My hair salon is a little village one. She won't have heard of it.
