Work trousers - where to buy?

Where's a good place to buy smart work trousers? I'm heading back to work after maternity leave and want to get some nice tailored trousers to replace the identikit, not-quite-fitting, mostly H&M black ones in my wardrobe. I don't usually go out shopping for fun and haven't set foot in anywhere that's not TKMaxx for years months, so haven't a clue where to start looking.

Am looking for well-fitting (I did have a small waist before DDs, not sure how much my proportions have changed since...), tailored trousers to wear mostly with shirts or smart knitwear (a challenge for another thread!). Possibly wool mix, probably darker colours, muted patterns like pinstripes / checks also good - but also open to shocking pink or flowery print type of statement trousers too (can wear with black or white shirts). Would like something with a bit of style, and there's no specific dress code at work, so anything goes within reason. Budget ??? would prefer to be under £100 but could stretch if they are particularly nice.

Where should I start?

I like banana republic Sloan -as well as plain black/navy/claret they have navy wool herringbone trimmed with leather and grey large check.

Was going to say trawl charity shops as I got 3 fab pairs of Next pants for ??3 each but I see you have ??100 so you are probably not a charity shop kind of girl. Lol.

Next trousers do wash lovely, are smart and comfortable if it helps.

I really like Boden trousers. Either Bistro or Chelsea.

Gap, banana republic, Mango, and sometime H&M, can all be good.

I'm not averse to charity shops, or to H&M (that's most of my current work wardrobe!), but thought I'd treat myself for once, in the hope that I might get a better quality and fit. Unfortunately I rarely seem to fit into Gap or Mango sizing - though it is a while since I've tried either for fitted trousers - and there's no Banana Republic here. Are they any good for online shopping?

Within easy each for skiving off work to go on a shopping trip one afternoon are John Lewis, Hobbs, Reiss, French Connection and also Flannels which I've never ventured into. Any of those worth trying? I should probably just head out and try stuff on I guess, but the thought of spending a couple of hours sorting through umpteen variations on black trousers doesn't entirely fill me with glee, so grateful for recommendations.

I second Banana Republic and add Jigsaw.
