WWYD - hair products, I'm such a novice!

I have long hair which I occasionally straighten with GHD's, a look I really like but a) don't have time for, and b) find dries my hair out too much.

I used to blow dry my hair every other day but I stopped over the summer and much preferred brushing it and letting it dry naturally.

While I'd still like to let it just air dry, I find it has a natural wave, especially underneath and at the back. I usually try to brush it as it dries, but can seem to get it to straighten. It's reasonably fine but there's a lot of it, which gives the impression of a thick matt of hair.

I thought maybe I should go with nature encourage the wave with something like mousse. However, when I looked at mousse the reviews talked of blow drying and crunchiness if air-drying. Which let me to question what would be a good way to manage my idea of promoting natural waviness?

I googled this and found air-dry products. Most are for heat-drying and if not activated by heat don't work properly.

Unfortunately the couple that I looked at both had poor reviews so not much help I'm afraid!
