Dressing gown

I'm looking for a really lush dressing gown. Obviously not the height of fashion or anything. My OH hates them (he always thinks of ill people so imagines they're covered in snot), so whatever I get won't impress him.

I'm looking for something long and warm (I've got a summery one), and not made of rank sweaty material. Also nothing "cute" with bunnies or any other twee animal (why do women's pjs always end up so unsexy?).

I can't afford much, thinking well under £50.

Oh that's a good one! Hasn't thought of tkmaxx. I also need a nice little warmish jacket (as my leather jacket got stolen) so that might work for there too. However they might all be lime green or something.

I have this from the White Company which I got in the sale. Very cosy and good quality.

I have that too Vibe, still looks good a few years on ... along with mole celtic sheepskin slippers - one of the few times I am remotely coordinated!

I've got a velour hooded White Company one too, it's too warm and I hardly ever wear it, which is a shame because it is lovely.

You need to move to an old draughty cottage AsTime, I have been wearing mine since I got back from hols mid August!

I have an old Victorian terrace, but I don't really feel the cold much. It's nice if you are sitting around in, but too warm for pottering round thd house doing things.

It's useful when I work from home or am studying though, I do get cold during the day when the heating isn't on.

YY to the White Company one. I was coveting it for ages, but couldn't quite bring myself to spend that much on a dressing gown, but picked it up on e-bay.

It's pretty hard to get cotton ones these days.

Another cotton velour white company advocate here! Got mine in the sales, around £50 from memory. It was called something like mulberry but is actually a kind of light mink colour. Very warm and generously cut, very luxurious and quite glam for a dressing gown.

I was looking at them recently in M&S. I decided that the men's dressing gowns were much better than the women's.

I have the same one as vibe. Great for when you come out of the shower. I find it really warm too though so switch to a short cotton m&s one in summer.

I went to tkmaxx today, none exactly fit the bill, but you've all made me want the £65 one now. Matalan had a few but they were all gross and short I'll keep my eyes peeled.

Yes to WC gowns! Have one for £75 with 20% off, it was sooo lovely I honestly believe it helped to endure last months of pregnancy and early baby times.

If you don't mind second-hand, try e-bay, that's where I got mine because it seemed such a steep price.

BUT, if you think that you'll have it for say, at least 5 years, worn most days, it must work out about 0.0004p a wear, and you'll be completely happy with it, and never have a 'oooh, I hate this dressing gown, I really want another' thought ever, ever again.

I bought one from a company called The Reach London (www.thereachlondon.com) recently. Would highly recommend. They are only £45 and are made from turkish cotton (lovely and cozy!). Better quality than a lot of the expensive dressing gowns out there.

I used to need really snuggly warm dressing gowns but am in a mega hot flat now and need something like that.
