Need black/navy tracksuit for reception, no hoodies/logos!

I've searched the websites of M&s, Matalan, Asda, Tesco, BHS... No joy. Mostly hoodies and joggers, and absolutely no unhooded tracksuit tops. Does anyone have any idea how to solve this presumably common uniform conundrum?

John Lewis

Hi, do you have a tshirt printing/logo type company near? They buy them plain and embroider them. DD has a particular school top that has to have initials on.

muttleydosomething · 03/09/2015 23:40

Been to John Lewis, but theirs don't go down to his size as he is in reception. Tracksuit means no joggers and proper tracksuit top, I believe, so Fruit of the Loom is out. I don't know of any t-shirt printers nearby, but this is London so worth a try somewhere. If not, I think I can only hope that if no other mums can find this archaic piece of sportswear they'll have to let us get away with joggers and hoodies, as that's what seems to have replaced it.

Does it actually say no hood extra on the list? What most schools require is a pair of tracksuit bottoms (probably the things you are calling joggers) and a zip up top.
As long as the colour is right and the stuff is no logo that's all they seem to care about

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 04/09/2015 07:40

I bought my dses zip up fleeces in Next a few years back. Completely plain but obviously not a tracksuit set. Then they had plain joggers from the uniform shop.

Don't overthink it op, they probably just want the children to have plain stuff without hoods that other children will yank on. I'm sure separates would be fine.

AuntieStella · 04/09/2015 08:01

Can you ask the school if they know suitable suppliers?

The school is probably thinking of something like this: www.affordableschoolwear.com/plain-items/tracksuit-navy.html but it starts in a 26, which will be too big for many pupils before KS2.

There are online uniform specialists which might have them, or ask your local football club where they order this kit from and see if you can buy something (unprinted) directly from them.

Or keep on at the school to allow all those below John Lewis smallest size to wear plain sweatshirt/joggers combo.

I got a zippered fleece jacket in grey marl from Primark last year, they always ha e fleece joggers too

mummypig3 · 04/09/2015 08:32

I'm sure aldi were selling these. Not sure if they would have any left now. Maybe worth a look. They were separates too as I bought the bottoms for my ds

Amazon

Lucked · 04/09/2015 09:56

next have one starts at age 3.

Lucked · 04/09/2015 09:59

Sorry I just realised no joggers. Do they mean like a shell suit? What are they expecting 4 year olds to do? I would clarify with the school.

Lucked · 04/09/2015 10:04

Again from next.

Is it just me that thought the OP was looking for clothes for herself to attend a drinks reception? I clicked on this to see why there was such an odd dress code. Blush

addictedtosugar · 04/09/2015 10:16

trousers and sweatshirt tho I'm not sure why joggers are out??

Itscurtainsforyou · 04/09/2015 10:16

We bought ours from sainsburys

WankerDeAsalWipe · 04/09/2015 10:18

H&M often do stuff like that too.

muttleydosomething · 04/09/2015 11:05

Thanks everyone. Because they're rather strict and old-fashioned at his school and make him wear a real tie at the age of 4, e.g., I took the no-hoodie tracksuit definition to mean what it used to mean: matching two-piece with zipper in that kind of stretchy sports material no-one wears now except to be retro (not shellsuit material, and not sweatshirt or fleece material, so not joggers). But the terminology probably means something different to most of his teachers, all of whom look young enough to be my daughter, so I think I'll have to chance this one if I have no luck with the Sainsburys and H&M leads.

It shouldn't matter what the material is as long as it's a plain tracksuit without a hood. If they complain just say that's all you could find
