Hi

It's nearly that time of year where 4yo DTs need pretty much an entire new wardrobe Wink

I'm happy enough with supermarkets for day to day stuff. But I like to get some better quality stuff to mix with it.

Let me nose at the places you like to buy kids clothes please Grin I need inspiration!

TIA

Another vote for Boden, Jo Jo and Frugi for best clothes i.e not nursery! But only with discount code or in the sale. The quality of those brand clothes is excellent as it washes well and never shrinks.

But I do also get lots from Gap, Zara, Sainsburys and M&S for my DD. Find all of their stuff good too. Used to like next too but find the stuff shrinks if you wash it frequently which I tend to!

Most Of dd's (4) are fom next, H&M, mothercare, tesco, m&s. Some bits from Primark. All excellent quality and look new even when she has outgrown them.
I buy her some character bits on sportsdirect

M&S, primark, sainsburies and occasional next

Joules, Boden, Ralph Lauren, Gap, M&S and Zara. The odd bits from Next. The Joules, Ralph and Gap outlet shops are amazing. I've found buying good quality to be a good investment now that we've got DD2 as well to wear all the hand me downs. Most of the stuff from DD1 still looks good as new!

I completely disagree that Frugi doesn't shrink, in fact it's well known for shrinking and in some cases even designed to do so which is fucking ridiculous. Its hard to wash, looks crap and faded within 2 or 3 wears and people go so ridiculous over it that 9 times out of 10 the odd nice bit they do that isn't a boden or jojo copy is out of stock before the catalogue lands on the doormat.

Zara , Joules , Jasper Conran at Debenhams , Ralph Lauren outlet stuff .

Next for lots of basics and stuff to wear to nursery. Boden for my toddler dd but not so much for my 3yo ds but I think it will be good for him in a few years. Bits from Zara, mango, h&m, joules, gap and everywhere else.

Hardly anything from M&S or the supermarkets. I would love M&S to get it together.

Lucked · 02/09/2015 22:48

Oh I have a frugi outfit that did has to grow into, I better throw it in the wash in case it shrinks!

Mainly Swedish or French companies. Just prefer the cut and style of most, and the better materials. I want summer stuff to be cool linen or thin cotton, and winter to be proper wool which can be hard to get in many supermarkets or British high at stores.

I mostly get Gap and Monsoon for good quality stuff now (always in the sales though!). I love Monsoon boys tops which wash really well. Monsoon dresses are excellent quality. I got dd a dress for £7 in the last sale so not unaffordable if you look properly. Gap trousers and shorts for boys are brilliant too. My girls always wear Next trousers and jeans and shorts. I don't know why but Next bottoms seem to suit my dd's better than my ds.

H&M are good for tshirts and tops. Also Boots sell some really good quality stuff in nice colours.

For something a bit special but casual I've bought all my DC Ralph Lauren dresses, cardigans, polo shirts and tshirts. All from tkmaxx or outlet for £10 max. They wash well and don't lose their colour.

Finally, I think you get good bits and pieces from all shops if you know what to look for. I've bought some absolutely brilliant knitwear and clothes from primark and peacocks that I've matched with other more expensive pieces. Always look at the material composition when buying clothes. 100% cotton knitwear won't result in bobbling colour fade, same with 100% cotton shirts and tights. Avoid synthetic materials. Touch the fabric and see if any patterns/designs are just printed on or are they part of the fabric? If they're part of the fabric they'll wash better and not fade.

I've just bought a Molo Kids top, DD2 loves it. H&M and Lindex for basics.

(Sorry, couldn't reply last night. Pesky password mixup between devices!)

Thanks for the ideas folks. I've had a good browse around and found a heap of stuff I like.
