My face won't even tolerate Simple skincare.

I've been ok with Body Shop Aloe Vera for a few years but they've now put the price up to £12.00 and I won't pay that any more on principle.

I don't mind paying more but not for something as cheap and basic as Body Shop.

I don't have especially dry skin, infact I still have quite a t-zone thing going on, but it flares up and itches like no-one's business.

I get on ok with Roc under eye cream, so might consider a general moisturiser if anyone can recommend?

Have you tried Dr Hauschka Rose Day cream?

It is so cooling on my skin. It is very rich, but if you read his philosophy he says don't dehydrate the oily parts of your skin.

It's totally natural and wonderful for sensitive skin.

It now cost £29 but it is worth a try

That sounds really nice actually Darcy, thank you.

La Roche Posay is v good for that skin type. Not cheap tho. But I think.worth it!

FanSpamTastic · 02/09/2015 00:06

I have late 40's sensitive but oily skin. I love Liz Earle. I feel clean but not dehydrated. I absolutely love the face oil - use it nightly with no break outs. It smells gorgeous.

suzannefollowmyvan · 02/09/2015 00:11

I like Avene (unperfumed) and good old olive oil (smells of olive oil)

Floisme · 02/09/2015 07:15

Have you tried ordinary oil e.g. almond oil? When I have a flare up, it's the only thing I can use.

Bunbaker · 02/09/2015 07:34

So you won't pay £12 for something that works out of principle, but are prepared to pay more for something that might not? Hmm

I don't regard Bodyshop products as cheap and nasty BTW, more mid range pricewise.

Mintyy · 02/09/2015 09:02

Its just that it was £8 or £10 at most the last time I bought it Bunbaker. And I'd like to boycott Body Shop anyway, I can't bear the way you get pounced on when you go in there.

La Roche Posey is excellent.. I have very sensitive skin and gave started using the face wash and moisturiser after ditching Dermalogica ultra calming in my new frugal phase.
It's about £15...and often in 3 for 2 in Boots

Bunbaker · 02/09/2015 09:09

I know what you mean, but you get pounced on more and more in shops these days, not just the Bodyshop.

burnishedsilver · 02/09/2015 10:52

Silcocks base is the most simple and cheapest of all.

ouryve · 02/09/2015 11:03

My skin is similar and the only thing I've tried that isn't too greasy and doesn't irritate at all is the plain yellow clinique. It's ££ but a bottle lasts me the best part of a year.

I'm still in between cleansers, mind. Have found nothing yet to replace the comforting cream cleanser

getoffthattabletnow · 02/09/2015 11:23

I love Cliniques redness solutions cream. Its soothing on my 51 year old skin for daytime use.I also love their Cleansing balm.At night i use a few drops of a essential oil plus a simple carrier like Rose with Jojoba.

roundturnandtwohalfhitches · 02/09/2015 11:28

I'm 46 and my skin suddenly decided it hated everything. I got a tube of Avene Calcificate repair cream which fixed it and now I use it as my only moisturiser. You only need a little bit and it's only £7.50.

squidgyapple · 02/09/2015 11:32

Cliniques dramatically different moisturising solution - it is expensive but lasts

GhettoFabulous · 02/09/2015 20:05

I'm 46 and have rosacea. I use argan oil - I buy it in TK Max, usually about 8 quid.

Coastingit · 02/09/2015 21:11

Avene! You won't go back. Their Hydrance Riche moisturiser is lovely for dry skin. But their whole range is aimed at sensitive skin really, it just does its thing without perfumes and shite.

Simple isn't actually all that gentle anyway.

I use Cetaphil to cleanse and it's the first time I haven't had to sprint for my moisturiser after washing my face. I still need it but my skin feels normal, rather than parched and right, after cleansing. And it's cheap as chips so Avene is mid range (although often on 3 for 2 at Boots or reduced at FeelUnique website) you can justify a slightly pricier moisturiser.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 02/09/2015 22:09

I got some cream from M&S (Salon their own brand) on the reduced shelf.
It's an anti redness , was £2.
'Oh, I'll try, good for holiday@

Reviews are good online.
Cream is lovely.
Discontinued Sad
I'll trawl the Sale bit to see if I can get more.

I've just finished a jar of Philosophy Hope Renewed. It was £36 but lasted 3 months.
