Back to work: ditching the jeans!

My ds is 10 months old and I'm going back to work after a year of living in jeans! I've got plenty of suitable tops and a few skirts but I'm in real need of inspiration for trousers that aren't jeans that are flattering to a mummy tummy... I'm about the same weight as I always was, but my tummy is a lot less toned and I'm thicker round the middle than I'd like. I used to live in low-rise slim fitting trousers but I think that might be a bit of a muffin top trap so any help would be much appreciated!

What are people wearing now? What won't draw attention to an untoned waist?

Thanks...

(Cheeky bump before this disappears off the first page: please help me find flattering smartish trousers!)

What is your job?

I'd invest in a couple of structured dresses

I also got some nice trousers from zara

I'm a teacher: no need for suits etc, it's just that jeans are definitely off the menu.

Structured dresses sound nice but I'm wary of things that are fitted around the middle in case that draws attention to it being thicker than it used to be.

Maybe I need to stop being so vain.

Thanks, Iggly - I like Zara. I'll try to pop there this week.

Next do black skinny trousers in their work wear ranges that might allow you to utilise the tops you've been wearing with jeans. Also Great Plains sale has some lively tunic dresses very heavily reduced, I'm also a teacher and these are my winter staples with cardis, opaque tights and knee or ankle boots.

You could get a dress which is a shift as opposed to fitted style - this will hide your middle along with some nice support tights. So the dress skims your tummy instead of hugs it?

My recommendation would be to ditch trousers altogether. I did this a few years ago because finding trousers or jeans fitted and flattered had become an absolute bastard. It was a revelation. Skirts n' tops or dresses don't have to be fitted round the middle and you can use them to draw the eye elsewhere e.g. towards legs.
