I tried a new moisturiser on impulse and I'm really impressed with it.

It's Aveeno Redness Relief moisturiser. I have very dry, easily irritated, mature skin and I've been having a lot of trouble with it being flakey and dehydrated but also being very reactive to most skin products. I've been trialling a lot of different things and I picked up the Aveeno when I was hanging around in the pharmacist waiting for a prescription about a week ago and it's far better so far than any of the heavier things I've tried. I still have some dry patches so I might need some oil or a serum as well, but on the whole my skin is feeling a lot better.

Just in case anyone else has sore, dry skin like mine, I currently also use Mizon Snail Repair Cream (which I also dab onto patches of psoriasis on my body) in the mornings to tighten up my wrinkles, Missha sun milk (the pink one). Cleansing is a scrub with a clean flannel soaked in warm water, unless I'm wearing makeup, then I use Akamuti Sweet Orange Cleanser and remove it with a flannel.

I plan to buy some Mizon Snail eye cream, because the snail face stuff is a wonder. I will probably also get some oil or serum. I occasionally use Jason vit E oil over night but it's really claggy. I also sometimes use camellia kissi oil, which is good for evening out skin tone but doesn't add moisture. I've tried rose hip oil in the past and it irritates my skin. Any recommendations for a simple, non-irritating oil or serum would be appreciated, especially if I can get small or sample sizes.

Sorry i just had to reply because both our usernames are (i presume) our coffee orders Grin.

Grin. Yes, it's my coffee order. Are you lactose intolerant too? I was just reading last night about whipped choconut cream in coffee, I'm not sure if I'm interested or revolted. You chill a tin of coconut milk in the fridge, then skim off the solids at the top and whip it. The blogger I was reading used it in her coffee, but she said it can be used anywhere that you would use whipped cream.

My skin isn't anything like as dry and sensitive as yours, but for a hydrating serum that's not strong scented, see if you can find a sample of the Bioderma Hydrabio. It's about £17 for a full size pump bottle at Escentual, and they often have it on offer in French pharmacy or other deals.

Thanks cressetmama I'll have a look out for that.

Have you tried coconut oil?

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 26/08/2015 17:04

I've had a read up about Hydrabio, and quite a few of the reviews mention silicones, which I don't get on with unfortunately. (I'm difficult, well my skin is anyway.)

No not lactose intolerant blackamericano, i just love flavoured syrups, coconut being my fave! I've heard about putting a teaspoon of coconut oil in a black coffee. Not sure sbout whipped coconut cream though- bit of a faff?

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 26/08/2015 19:40

It does sound like a faff, but I mostly fear going through all the faff and not liking the result. I really miss whipped cream (and camembert) and I suspect that a substitute just wouldn't be right and I would be hugely disappointed.
