Ear piercing pain

WhyDoesGastonBark · 26/08/2015 10:23

In the night, while sleeping I appear to have taken an earring and put it through an old, almost closed up, piercing hole I have. I know this because I woke up with a sore ear and a stud halfway up my ear lobe.

Its now really really sore, more than it should be. I must have really forced what can I do to make it hurt less? it (the one on the other ear feels like it is basically closed if I try to put an earring throughthat)

Take it out and slap on some antiseptic? Or treat it as a new piercing? Never heard of sleep piercing - ouch!

I asked DH if either he had actually done it for some weird prank or if he saw me up and about (my dressing table is his side of the bedroom) and he said no but he thought everything looked moved around on his bedside table this morning. I just went back in To look and there is a random empty cup and can of deodorant on his bedside table... This makes no sense.

I took it straight out as it was sore and put sudo on it but its still throbbing :(

Very odd! Do you tend to sleep walk? You can take painkillers to help and follow usual post piercing procedure.

IJustLostTheGame · 26/08/2015 10:36

Yikes you must have really mashed that thing in.
If you put a dirty ear ring in you're running the risk of infection.
Perhaps get a cotton pad and make up some saline with salt and boiled water and hold it to the hole for a few minutes a couple of times a day.
If it goes red and swells it could be infected and you'll need a trip to the docs.
And the Dr will probably give you this face Shock

I might take a paracetamol then, I never think of them for things like this.

Erm as far as I know I haven't sleep walked(?) in 8 years (since I left home) but DH is a very deep sleeper so maybe he isn't noticing? I did used to sleep walk and talk at home now and again - maybe once or twice a month.

Lost the game... Thanks I will do the saline solution too.

I was a bit Shock myself this morning to think I am that co-ordinated while asleep to put a fiddly earring back in in the dark!

I take my earring out in my sleep quite often, I find them on the bedside table or under my pillow with the butterfly back on and everything.Confused

I would clean it with surgical spirit, take painkillers and keep an eye on it. Go to the gp if it gets worse.

It does sound sore you poor thing.

TheMotherOfHellbeasts · 26/08/2015 11:20

Antiseptic and then an ice cube held on the area for as long as possible should help.

WhyDoesGastonBark · 26/08/2015 11:34

About half hour after taking painkillers and now it only hurts if I touch it.
