Foundation for menopausal skin?

Please help me find a light foundation for my temperamental and sensitive menopausal skin! It's simultaneously very dry and bright red when I have a hot flush.

I suspect no such product exists. Everything I have tried recently either goes dry and cakey or melts off when the heat rises.

I don't have much money to spend on it unfortunately - and limited access to shops (Boots is a 15 mile drive so could do that at a push.)

At the moment I'd just settle for not looking like an beetroot caked in baby powder.

Have you looked at the Hot and Flashy blog - she's reviewed loads of foundations and is VERY picky about what she likes Smile

Dont think a single product will do the trick- maybe try a primer, light foundation and then a very light dusting of loose powder. Can't advise on brands as depends on your budget. I love Dior Star but it's £30 a bottle - lasts for ages. L'Oreal or Boots no 7 worth a look.

Bare Minerals do one in a tube which is very good

You could also try a cc cream for high colour- clinique do several types which tone down or lift skin colour- use under foundation. (Or get yourself on HRT and get rid of your flushes:)

I recently discovered primer and now my old foundation glides on and looks a million times better - I just picked boots No 7 one up and it's great but will be researching others when it is finished. I had no idea what primer was but its revolutionary

Thank you for all the ideas everyone.
Is primer suitable for dry skin? Are there different types? I feel very ignorant.

I second the No7 Primer got a free sample and it makes a real difference to my foundation.

The one I am using is Instant Illusion think it is £20 but used a £5 off voucher.

(Foundation is Clinique superfit which I initially found a bit drying but works much better with the primer underneath).

Starting to take a good look at No7 products their mascaras also very nice.

I have temperamental skin, sometimes it's fine, then it flares up and flushes and looks awful. I use Max Factor Facefinity compact, you can build the coverage if you need to and it doesn't look cakey. I use the Real Techniques powder brush with it.
