How you put on your bra apparently reveals your personality

Apologies for the daily mail link www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-3205160/Are-clasping-influencer-fastening-supporter-way-BRA-reveals-intimate-details-personality.html a psychologist has decided that there are 4 ways to fasten and put on your bra

  1. Behind the back (means you're submissive)
  2. At the front and rotate (means you're and influencer)
  3. You guy a front fastening bra (means you're a commander)
  4. You fasten it before putting it over your head (you're a careful corrector)

Now, to me this is just bollocks, and the '4' methods should be interpreted thus.

  1. Behind the back - you have flexible shoulder joints.
  2. At the front and rotate - you may need a bra intervention
  3. Front fastening bra - you don't have d+ cup size
  4. fasten before putting over your head - JESUS CHRIST YOU REALLY NEED A BRA INTERVENTION! How loose is your band?

I'm with WhirlpoolGalaxy on this. It exists to encourage women to pigeonhole themselves into a very slim range of "types". Makes MBTI and astrology look like tailored advice. Have never seen any kind of "What type of man are you?" quizzes or research, although I have seen men take an interest in the aforementioned more general categories of personality sorting. Now, that... that is interesting.

tictactoad · 21/08/2015 12:46

Front fasten and rotate here because it's easiest and quickest.

I've clearly been 12 for forty odd years Grin

Olinguito · 21/08/2015 13:33

Front fastening and rotating while the bra is at waist level, and then pulling the bra up, putting arms into the straps as you get it to a convenient height, is quite easy. It doesn't mean that the band has to be really loose. I think some people are picturing rotating the bra at chest height, which could be tricky!

Passthecake30 · 21/08/2015 13:43

Another 12 yr old and proud of it! !! Think my mum, aged 77 also has this claim to fame....

scribblegirl · 21/08/2015 13:44

I'm usually 1 but I do 2 with my sports bra, because it's got two fixings and one is too high up to reach without a severe amount of contortion or a helpful friend Grin

I have never in my life heard of anyone who does method 4!

kittykarate · 21/08/2015 15:28

Maybe I could apply for funding to carry out my study on what your bra-size says about you. Obviously it will be slightly biased and say that if you're 36H you are a strong, confident and wonderful person.

I do it as Olinguito says. I'm 56 with shoulders that have dislocated far too often!

goodasitgets · 21/08/2015 19:04

I can't swivel Grin
Always do up at the back. My bra band can only just fit a finger under so even at waist level I would struggle to swivel it

valerie123 · 21/08/2015 21:25

Always method no 1, so I am submissive. That's why I flop around in a bra!

I take particular care to ensure that the tab extension of the clasp is under the hooks, particularly with a new, tight bra, so that I don't get the hooks digging into my back.

thenightsky · 21/08/2015 21:30

I'm a swiveller (2). My waist is much smaller than my chest, so swivelling is easy.

blueshoes · 21/08/2015 22:26

What a stupid article. I have myself for reading it.

woodhill · 21/08/2015 22:37

I find it hard to do up at back. usually swivel.

SilverHighlights · 23/08/2015 20:35

I'm a swiveller (I'm an hourglass shape so it's easy).

I am neither 12 nor do I need a bra intervention. I doubt I'm much of an influencer, either.

I am, however, disabled - doing my bra up at the back can result in injury. When I had a rotator cuff tear diagnosed and treated, my doctor asked if I could reach behind to touch my bra strap and I couldn't even do that. I don't fancy going through that again.

I think people should just do whatever is comfortable for them! The idea that this choice accurately reflects someone's personality seems a bit daft.

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 23/08/2015 21:11

Silver I'm an hourglass too and couldn't swivel if I tried. If I did I'd have to wear the wrong size bra to do it!

Coastingit · 23/08/2015 22:19

I put it on around my waist, do it up at the back then hoik it up, bending forward, putting on straps and scooping.

Am I weird?

RhinestoneCowgirl · 23/08/2015 22:22

What?

Doing a bra up at the back is the Only Right Way. I'm GG cup and always wear underwired bra. If I could swivel, it would mean that it was too loose Hmm

SilverHighlights · 24/08/2015 09:42

My bra fits just fine, I guess it's just what I'm used to as I've always done it that way. The bra doesn't just slip round when I swivel, I have to pull it along - except strapless bras with the plasticky bits, I need help with those as swivelling tears at my skin.

SilverHighlights · 24/08/2015 09:43

(I'm also a C cup and I avoid underwired bras).
