Stockings. Where to buy them.

So I'm loving the freedom of skirts over the summer and I have made some gorgeous winter weight ones for when the weather is cooler. Obviously I will need tights but I love the idea of stockings. I know so I don't have to hoick them up and down for the loo
And I think they may be more hugenic. But where is the best place to buy them pls. I'm "heavy boned" so need size 18.

I buy at sales time in department stores. Otherwise www.mytights.com has a good selection. Main problem is getting ones that don't have the legs too short - particularly with M&S stockings - they are fine with midi skirts & longer but no good for anything shorter. Its worth checking out reviews on this point.

Thanks ladies. I wasn't sure wether they were so unpopular now these guys didn't sell them any more. Delighted I will find them on high street.

Of course the alternative is hold ups. I love hold ups and find them so much more convenient than stockings. I always buy them online especially I prefer less usual shades which are harder to find in shops. My Tights .. UK Tights ... Stockings Direct .. there are plenty of online options. I tend to go for quality versions and justify this on the basis that as each leg is separate, a ladder means the loss of just one leg rather than a full pair.

I had sort of discounted hold ups cos they roll down. Do the online ones stay up better then?

Agree about the Wolford hold ups. They can be pricey but I've had a pair for 8 months and the "sticky part" is still as good as the first time I put them on. The fit is generous and they feel amazing. No sign of bobbling or snagging.

I like a thick denier and the combination of that in a hold up is fantastic.

I originally bought them for (ahem) less functional and more pleasurable use...but they quickly became an everyday essential.

I have bought Falke and Transparenze hold ups. There are many styles to try. They all stay up. Various levels of shinyness and deniers. IME they only fall down if you wear them a few times between washes. It might sound odd but I now hate the feel of tights and never wear them. I do often however wear an ankle sock under my hold up when wearing boots to reduce the likelihood of ladders and extend the wear.
