Swimming costume

Hello everyone

Just after some help for a swimming costume in a tankini style that comes with slightly longer bottoms in shorts style.

I ordered this one but not sure if there's anything available that might be better.

I'm overweight and a size 16 ish. I also have a mummy tummy and big legs.

The shorts on this one are erm... short, so the wait band accentuates my flabby overhang and the length doesn't hide the tops of my legs quite enough.

The top has a support bit in the belly area which feels good, but I am very busty, 32gg and feel like I might spill out of the top and feel a bit like I have too much cleavage on show.

Just wondering if there are any other options out there before I decide to 'make do' with this one.

I haven't been swimming with my dc ever. They do go with DP. We are going away in a weeks time so would love to find something that gives me the confidence to just have fun rather than feeling as self conscious as I usually do. I will be turning 47 whilst we are away and my dc are 7 and 5, so am an older mum, if that makes any difference to recommendations.

Many thanks in advance.

From your description I'm the same size and shape as you. That costume looks lovely, I'd wear it and I'm VERY self conscious.

I have one like this, boyleg one.

To be fair, I look a bit like an all-in wrestler in it rather than the streamlined Rebecca Adlington look I was hoping for, but swimming pools are full of people of all sizes and shapes and once you're in the water all anyone can see is your head anyway Grin .

Go for it, you'll be fine.

Thanks Harriet. That's a good option too. I quite like the tankin style as it makes going to the loo a tad easier. Blush Grin

I just found these shorts so have ordered those as I think the top will work well with longer shorts, maybe??

Still worried about having too much cleavage on show. I'm going to try and find an underwired top in my size, maybe.

Thanks for your help. xxx

You're damned right about going to the loo being a bugger in my costume: went swimming with ds3 today and had to nip out for a wee after an hour. Getting out of it is fine but getting back in it when it's wet is like trying to wear industrial clingfilm (well, I imagine it would be like that, I've not actually tried it Grin ). I'm not surprised people wee in pools when they've got swimwear like mine.

I'd say stick with a tankini, the shorts look good and would go well with the top you've got, which is lovely. Honestly, once you get to the pool everyone is scurrying from the changing room to the water and no-one has time to examine anyone else, they're all too busy trying to get under cover of the water as fast as possible!

I have Speedo tankinis, longish shorts and bust support. They are sporty rather than pretty and they do their job well.

Hi there.
Industrial cling film is such a good way of describing that Grin

The longer shorts arrived but they are a bit weird. Really loose fitting but tight around the leg seams. I think I'm going to return them and that costume and start again. I think maybe I need to try and find a top that is better for my 32gg boobs. Thanks again for your help. xxx

BikeRunSki, thanks for your help too. I've seen the speedo tankini, but the shorts look quite short. The ones from Very are also short and with my wide jiggly hips they don't look right. I'm going to try and get to the shops on Saturday so will see if I can try some on somewhere. :)
