Date at the beach

srtajuanita · 08/08/2015 16:46

This one has got me foxed. Next Saturday, champagne picnic at the beach then out for cocktails.

I want to look pretty but casual. I have thunder thighs, so jeans are a bit of a disaster. Age 40, size 18, pear shape if that helps.

Thanks Flowers

Pretty, flowy, casual summer dress (not too short)

Alwaysrushingaround · 08/08/2015 16:53

And not too floaty in case of a strong sea breeze ( and I don't mean the cocktail!)
Enjoy!

I'm wondering if I can get something in the sale at East or Debenhams.

I'd do a maxi dress or if thats not your style, a summer dress of any style youre comfy in. Wedge or other nice sandals, bring flip flops or other beach shoes for confort.

Nothavingfunrightnow · 08/08/2015 17:14

this is pretty

another maxi

would this be too short or too fussy?

srtajuanita · 08/08/2015 17:16

Ooooh I love the long black maxi. Is black a bit much for the beach? It's in my basket - thank you!

Nothavingfunrightnow · 08/08/2015 17:19

tto kaftanny?

srtajuanita · 08/08/2015 17:21

It is rather kaftany - I like to show off my shape but not my legs.

YAY! first time I have ever made a suggestion and someone likes one of them! :)

I don't think that the black maxi is too much for the beach - of course it depends on what you team it up with. Flip flops or sandals. Perhaps a cardigan - black might be too heavy. Maybe pale blue or orange.

Nothavingfunrightnow · 08/08/2015 17:24

orange cardigan

srtajuanita · 08/08/2015 17:25

Are you something to do with fashion in real life, Not? You have a great eye.

Don't do wedges for a beach, unless you can do an attractive hobble over sand.

srtajuanita · 08/08/2015 17:29

Whitstable - I think it's pebbley? Himself reckons it's romantic ....

Nothavingfunrightnow · 08/08/2015 17:30

Not at all, Srt! I am as unfashion conscious as can be! And a very tired sized 22, 49 year old! :D

srtajuanita · 08/08/2015 17:34

You've missed your calling.

Debenhams actually has a lot of pretty dresses, I'm surprised.

:) I hope your date goes well and you find what you need.

gerbiltamer · 10/08/2015 17:15

Whitstable is pebbly. If your picnic takes place at low tideish there is a lovely shingle bank in Tankerton called 'The Street' which you can both wander along.

Have a lovely time Smile My only reservations regarding the wearing of a maxi is that you may trip.

Oly4 · 11/08/2015 20:27

Not those maxis are perfect in my opinion. With flip
Flops

srtajuanita · 12/08/2015 15:15

Thanks for the tips here - weather looks unhelpful so far, 21 degrees but may or may not rain!

Don't really want to spend day in the pub either, he's booked Oyster place for supper.

Thanks again x
