Dubarry Longford: stop me bankrupting myself!

I've fallen in love with these bad boys, in the walnut colour. But they're so expensive!

Does anyone know of any good sites or shops for discounted Dubarry? Or are there any boots that look like these but don't cost ££££££££?

I want brown not black, pull-on, Gore-Tex, good and sturdy, look good worn stumping round town as well as tramping through the countryside.

Help! I may remortgage my house

Really don't like dubarry boots, horses for courses I guess.

I’ve wanted a pair for ages too, specifically the Clare ones but would also appreciate the Longfords. They look like the type of shoes you could rely upon if there was a natural disaster/alien invasion/zombie attack. I think I’ll purchase when my uggs give up the ghost; I’d be able to wear them on brisk walks etc. as well as in slobbing situations. At least that’s what I’m going to tell DP, “HOW MUCH? For a pair of fucking boots?!”.

Also really want a pair of Chameau wellies but I might hold off on that one…!

I love the Dublin Pinnacle. You will save a fortune by purchasing from the horsewear stands at any of the bigger horse/ agri shows. Great day out, big range of styles and considerably less than the online RRP.

TheCraicDealer I wouldn't bother with le chameau's they've gone seriously downhill in quality last few years.....I know lots of gamekeepers, ecologists and farmers that live in wellies day in day out that all used to swear by them and almost everyone says they're crap now.....still same price tag though Hmm my DH sent three pairs back in 6 months as they kept splitting!

Swaying, I'm a bit worried at your report that they're very wide at the top; I have quite slim calves so am susceptible to the 'accidental welly' look.

holly, sadly I have feet like canoes and couldn't wear children's sizes.

East, I've combed department store/boutique sites and also eBay, to no avail so far.

Cost per wear: well, I live in London. I do go for walks in my local parks sometimes and it can be muddy; I also intend to start doing more day trips out of London and can imagine wanting them then. I also love cold holidays in wintry places and will definitely wear them on those occasions.

I thought they looked stylish enough to just wear round town as well, though.

But for now I've actually ordered a Dublin pair, so will see how I feel when they arrive.

Thanks for all the comments!

Thanks Highlandbird- thought I was being all clever by staying away from bloody Hunters which I'd heard had nosedived where quality was concerned!
