Just had a Fringe Cut

longish hair and just had a full fringe cut. DH says I look a lot older and a bit frumpy. I was undecided but didn't think it was that bad.

Don't want to leave the house now.

If you dont really like it then you could go back and get it softened by them chipping into it a bit - feathering it so its not so heavy?

I was going to play around with it, it does look different, and I do have a big forehead but I thought they were meant to make you look younger!

Well i dont have a fringe because i wear glasses most of the time and think that would just be too much. I suppose it depends upon your face shape, style etc.
Can you kind of sweep it a bit to the side?

Just Googled 'bad fringes', it looks just like the Rachel Belson photo but my hair is straighter, so I guess he's right. I'll have to side sweep it.

Every single time I've had a fringe cut I've regretted it.

DH has threatened to divorce me if he has to warn me against it once more, then listen to my moaning when I ignore him and go ahead anyway.

I think we need to see a pic before we can give any advice .

I've cut a fringe in so many times (at least once a year) then immediately change my mind and start growing it out again. Same as going dark brown from a lovely soft blonde....currently trying to fix both just now.
Can you give yourself a couple of days to get used to it, then clip it back if you really don't like it?

I've always had a fringe because I have a huge forehead that just looks awful when I try and grow it out. The trick is to side sweep it. Never, ever, ever have it flat and straight down. There in lies frump and looking old.

She looks good but mine looks like the link I posted. I am very petite, so have petite features. I have parted it and it looks a bit better, but I don't trust my judgement now.

I had one, wavy thick hair, looked great in the hairdressers, many people told me it looked nice, I was unsure dh told me he didn't like it, I grew it out lots of people then told me I looked much better without the fringe! I love my dh for being honest and if says something suits me I can genuinely believe him

My fringe is flat and blunt and I don't look old and frumpy. It draws attention to my eyes and cheekbones. Loved it from the minute it was cut. With my hair colour a side fringe would make me look like my sister during her emo phase 10 years ago

I'm never sure what the criteria for growing/keeping a fringe are supposed to be, but photos of me without a fringe always look older and frumpier than the ones with one.

If it really does look like Rachel Belson's fringe in the link then it's just a bit too long and too blunt. Very easy to sort out.

Fringes always take a bit of getting used to, IMHO and often don't sit quite right for the first few days anyway.

Fringes are good at hiding frown lines and 'elevens' (the vertical frown lines you get between the eyebrows) so they can make you look younger. I've got a fringe and never been able to grow it out - takes too long and looks a mess while it's growing out.

Crikey, fringes aren't frumpy- they can be very cool.

See how it is when you have done it yourself, don't blow dry the fringe like Rachel Wilson pic,try either straighten it ,it won't have the blown out bubble fringe she has.
I am not making myself very clear above but the RB fringe is very blown out.

If you fancy a change and have petite features why not go for a proper chop? Would an elfin cut suit you? Or some other more edgy cut that incorporates a fringe that better suits your face?

I'm very petite! I'd look like a proper pixie with a pixie cut. I'm liking it slightly parted. DD said it looked pretty. I'm gonna trust the 3 year old over the adult.

My dh hates me changing my appearance. Happen he is just not used to it so ignore his comments. Im sure you look lovely :)

That fringe is very curled under and pouffy.. When you dry it use a paddle brush and swish the brush from side to side at the fringe roots to dry it flat.

I like Rachel bilson's fringe there. I don't think straight heavy fringes looks frumpy at all!!

It doesn't look like as much now, starting to look rather flat and not full. Am I going to be washing it every day?
