Daily SPF for face

I'm 31 and have recently discovered a freckle age spot on my forehead and have decided it's about time I start using a proper SPF every day.

My foundation has SPF 15 within it but I'm aware I don't use enough of it to actually get much protection from it.

I was thinking of trying Boots soltan sensitive face cream as my skin is on the sensitive side, has anyone tried it? Any other recommendations? Cheap would be preferable!

Where's the silly farty potion? Don't the French need good sunscreen?
Dermatologist recommend LRP often.

I like Heliocare, it's Spanish I believe and they definitely need a good sunscreen in Spain.

Thanks for the advice, I've ordered the Biore from Amazon because it's the cheapest. My skin is pretty 'normal' but can be on the oily side so I'll keep my fingers crossed that it's ok.

the problem with silly farty SPF beauty products is that they have very small amounts of sun protection. So they are fine for those teetering between office and lunch venue and back again.

anyone who actually spends time outside (as you should) needs real suncream. Slap sliding off seems a non-issue compared to skin cancer, or even more wrinkles.

keep trying different brands if you have an allergy problem.

there is a British Association of Dermatologists link on this subject but I CBA finding it again. Anyone who is bothered can do so.

Heliocare spf50 is a dedicated sunscreen, not a moisturiser. Not silly or farty. What would you recommend?

legohurtswhenyoustandonit · 06/08/2015 18:39

I've got the soltan one and would not recommend it. Although it does protect against sunburn it feels sticky and takes literally hours to soak in. I use it on weekends and holidays and will not repurchase once it is finished. On other days I use a so-called silly farty beauty cream (Body Shop moisturiser with spf 15 or 30). It seems adequate for my needs - I am only outside at lunchtime or while I am tottering to and from work. Horses for courses and all that.

Neutrogena one is going back because they sent me one that's about to expire Hmm

I have also ordered the Biore one so thank you Earslaps and Cleopatracominatcha

I use a Sunsense factor 50 one for face. Not cheap but so far it's lasted ages and it's incredibly light on my skin so it doesn't feel like suncream at all. It's amazing IMO.

Mimigolightly · 06/08/2015 19:38

I haven't tried it myself but Lisa Eldridge recommended Heliocare SPF 50 today.

canalknit · 06/08/2015 19:45

I like Cane & Austin's Protect SPF 50+ but it is NOT cheap. That said, it's the best I've found so far for my very pale, freckly, oily skin

Any which you can use and swim and it not want to pull your eyes out when it gets in them.

Tried Estée Lauder and La Roche Posay and both really hurt when get in eyes!

Loads of them really sting your eyes Twinkie. I've tried loads. Prob what would work best is a physical block (as opposed to chemical). The one I linked to upthread is physical and the only one that hasn't irritated my eyes. It's spf50 and 4* UVA protection, really good and not so silly farty.
