Crocs- I know, not really a S & B thing but..

I work from home, until recently from the kitchen table and now from a garden office at the other side of the back lawn. Unfortunately summer has so far been non existent so my plan of slipping flip flops on to walk to the office is no good. It wouldn't work in winter anyway!

So I thought crocs might work a bit like outdoor slippers, I can leave them at the back door and shove them on when I pop out.

Does anyone have any advice about styles or fit? I fancy something cheerful as I reckon if I'm going to wear plastic shoes I might as well go the whole hog! I saw some with fluffy insides that appealed but the colours were all drab. Or any alternative suggestions?

I bought a three quid pair of croc rip offs in bright yellow as a laugh and I use them so much! I take them camping to walk to the shower blocks, use them to put the washing out, sit in garden in them, paddle in rivers with them, wash them and where them as house slippers in summer as they are cooler. I love the bright yellow, it makes me smile. Mine are kind of more 'lady' style, they are not as deep on the top as the normal croc. Love them!

Is your garden office heated well? Your feet might be cold in there with no shoes or slippers.

The office is pretty toasty- it has a radiator and is fully insulated. A bigger issue can be keeping it cool in summer, one wall is windows. I was planning on wearing cosy socks with the crocs.

I see the point about the holey crocs- my kids have croc band ones as garden shoes and I wondered about something like that, they seem yo have less side holes.

Theoddity- what you say about the colour of yours is what I want from mine, something cheerful! They don't have to match anything and nobody but me will really see them!

I have Disney crocs with Mickey silhouette shaped holes bought in Disneyworld 4 years ago. They are indestructible and incredibly comfy.

I'd prefer walk on a bed of nails then put them on my feet!

Don't do it!!! It is just as easy to slip on a pair of dolly shoes/converse/boots... Don't wear them awful rubber cloggs!!!!!!!!

Surely you'd be better off with actual, proper garden shoes? this sort of thing, or more like these, or at least closed clogs. Rather random examples, but dry.

I have crocs as indoor slippers and another pair for gardening :-) I am in no way a trend setter or fashionista though
I suffer with bad feet so look forward to coming home and slipping them on. No one sees me in them (other than DH who knows how ive suffered so couldn't care that they look naff!) so it's my guilty secret!

I had started out thinking that plastic shoes were abhorrent, but actually converse and boots take considerably longer to take on and off and ballet pumps get soaking. I really want something as easy to slip on and off as slippers, hence why I thought of crocs.

Loving the idea of mickey shaped holes!

I can't wear normal Crocs as they are much too wide for me and they just seem to tilt my feet into an uncomfortable position. I like their little Mary Jane style shoes (called "Alice").

Skechers used to do some rubbery shoes very similar to Crocs but a better shape for me. I've just looked on their site and couldn't find them but they're the sort of thing that turns up in places like TKMaxx from time to time. But of course if your feet are a sensible width Crocs will work for you!

i have croc flip flops that I use for the garden and the beach. very comfy and hard wearing. they are a fair few years old now and still going strong. I just bung them in the washing machine when they are dirty.

I love my crocs. Am currently wearing them and i dont give a sh*t!!!! They are so easy to slip on and are great as slippers. Go for it!!!

I would go for the croc band type. Air holes at the top so your feet dont get wet from the sides. You should be fine !

I bought these for my holidays, for around the pool, going to the beach etc as they are waterproof. I hate clog crocs but I love these

I got a pair from lidil pink and blue. I keep them by the back door to take out the rubbish and hang out the washing. I tried keeping some ballet flats for a similar reason but I like to wear slipper socksor fluffy socks in the house and they were too thick to slip on with socks. Plenty of room with crocs on.

CMP69 Those huarache sandals are insanely comfortable and very un-Croc like, that colour-way in particular is the best.

I am a weathered crocs wearer. I had owned about 8 pairs so far.

I also don't give a shiny shit what I look like when hanging out the washing or on camp with the scouts etc. They do the job.

I also took them into hospital as slippers as there was no way I was showering barefoot in those minging showers.

If the practical plastic and waterproof nature of Crocs appeals but you hate the styles, might be worth mentioning that Birkenstocks now do their Arizonas, Gizehs and Madrids in EVA for a very reasonable price - about £25. I have the arizonas in black and white and they are very lightweight and croc-comfy. Narrow fit only though for some weird reason, and the sizes vary a bit, so worth ordering a few to try.

I should say I'm not narrow fit and the width is fine for me, but anyone with wider than average feet may struggle.

I'm sure these are horrendously expensive but might fit the bill - felt slippers with rubber soles you can slip on for outside. mahabis.com I've never seen them in the flesh though!

I'd probably go for crocs myself though, in an outlandish and horrible colour so I wouldn't be tempted to wear them out of the house! (I know what I'm like when I find a comfortable shoe!)

Lots of replies! And lots of happy crocs wearers! Think I'm going to look for a cheerful pair of croc bands. I have birkies and flip flops but they are no good in this hideous weather!!

I have Crocs Jayna's which I wear most of the summer. They are so comfortable and less ugly than normal crocs.
