AIBU for not being able to find ANY high street shops or supermarkets selling normal boys trousers?

All I want are some baggy combatty/cotton trousers for my 6yr old did. Not joggers or jeans, and not skinny chino types that taper at the ankle. Or have a stupid curved crotch (every single pair of next trousers!)
I've resorted to Boden sale items, as they're normal! But effing expensive!
Any recommendations?

randomly i found some in ASDA and also the mountain warehouse online sale

BikeRunSki · 24/07/2015 20:12

Gap I tend to stock up when there's a sale or I am passing an outlet store.

Skinny trousers are trendy, so lots of people buy them, so they are cheap, bulk production etc.

www.matalan.co.uk/kids-clothing/boys/shop-by-age/boys-3-13yrs/bottoms/s2583313/boys-belted-jeans--3-13yrs

How about matalan, looks like there are a couple of pairs of jeans

Szeli · 24/07/2015 22:46

peacocks is full of baggy stuff - i know because i couldnt see anything for skinny ds. primark too

FuryFowler · 25/07/2015 08:16

Thanks all.
I live in the Lake District so outdoor shops in abundance! Just never thought of looking in them :/
My son is tall so is in 7-8 trousers now. He's not yet 6!

I like eBay too. I have bought & sold Boden items on there for good prices. It's just hit and miss on quality sometimes.

I used to buy a lot from Ebay but recently I have found many more people to be misleading over the description of their items.
I bought a footmuff for my buggy described as washed and ready to use. At the bottom of it were five socks, a shoe, a handful of old chips and more crumbs than a toaster.

juneau · 25/07/2015 08:34

M&S, Next, John Lewis, Gap, Boden - all do 'normal' boys trousers.

StormyBrid · 25/07/2015 08:37

Might be worth checking local charity shops, OP. I hate the tapered style too, but charity shops tend to have stuff that was made during previous fashions. I've just had to get nearly two and a half year old DD a load of boys' 18-24m trousers from charity shops, because girls' 2-3 are not just massive but also ridiculously shaped.

diploddycus · 25/07/2015 08:39

I was coming here to say the h&m 5.99 ones. They don't taper at the leg in real life, they're straight leg. DS has quite a few pairs of them.

LaughingHyena · 25/07/2015 08:49

DS has a couple of pairs which we got from Tesco recently.

BikeRunSki · 25/07/2015 08:53

A slight taper is very handy for wellies and bike riding though.

Proudmummytodc2 · 25/07/2015 08:54

H&m I was in there yesterday and they had done lovely combat trousers(might be depending on store) but I got a few pairs for my ds as he hates the skinny legs as he's got quiet chinky legs so it's hard to get ones that fit right and h&m have always been great also wandered into primark I know it's cheap stuff but they also had baggy combats as well actually good quality they had cotton in the inside to make them thicker and warmer and by hey were baggy and no curves either

accessorizequeen · 25/07/2015 11:34

That 2nd hand footmuff sounds revolting. Yes the £5.99 H&M one s we have. I buy Boden via Facebook groups now, if you know what size great bargains. Land send do excellent sales and discounts and great quality tho I haven't tried their kids trousers, the tops are better than boden!

ChanandlerBongsNeighbour · 25/07/2015 11:43

Gap used to do a 'staple' combat pant type trouser in every collection (years ago when I worked there) just mild variations on fabric and pockets but trouser generally stayed the same.

YeOldeTrout · 25/07/2015 11:48

am surprised nothing in Primark for OP

alteredimages · 25/07/2015 11:53

YANBU OP. Also, why are there no jumpers for sale anywhere when it is bloody freezing outside?

I can't find any shoes to fit DS either despite trips to three shoe shops, they told me my best bet would be an outlet as they have year round stock. Otherwise I am out of luck unless I want sandals.

BertieBotts · 25/07/2015 13:54

Primark is v fashion conscious I find so you won't find anything different in there from other places. I did get some tracksuit type ones for DS though. They looked a bit chavvy, not really combatish but they are loose and cool to wear.

FuryFowler · 25/07/2015 22:05

stormybird my did is nearly 2 and I've never bought her girls trousers as they're a rubbish cut! Luckily she has lots of boys hand me downs from ds, from a time when fashion wasn't skinny!

runbikeski my ds wears shorts or cycling leggings when on bike, he can't stand trousers when riding. Neither can I Grin

FuryFowler · 25/07/2015 22:07

Yes altered I don't think UK retailers realize that we're actually in the UK!
I emailed fat face to complain as they have no boys trousers in their summer range! Just shorts!

OP posts:
littlejohnnydory · 26/07/2015 13:34

Boden or fat face on ebay is what I do. YANBU, those carrotty twisted tapered things are fucking horrible.

VacantExpression · 26/07/2015 13:55

to pp- Sainsburys are the only place I have found that do boys joggers without the elasticated cuff at the bottom.

FuryFowler · 26/07/2015 17:32

Yes vacant I hate the elastic bit at the bottom! Even Boden do it! Fat face don't though, so I go there for joggers, but they have none in their summer range :/
