The no7 one is ok. But bare minerals 'mineral veil' is lighter and much less chalky imo.

Tanfastic · 23/07/2015 20:55

I use Rimmel, I've found their translucent powder the best and I've tried other expensive brands.

EmberRose · 23/07/2015 20:59

Another rimmel user!

jasmine1979 · 23/07/2015 21:11

I agree that the rimmel stay matte one is fantastic. I didn't realise that they did a loose powder as well though? I 've only ever seen the pressed one.
For loose powder I don't think you get better than the classic cornsilk powder. It costs around £5 in boots. It's never with all the cosmetics though, it's always in the skincare section on a bottom shelf somewhere. Smile

Tanfastic · 23/07/2015 22:14

Aah sorry I didn't see the loose powder bit. Not sure if Rimmel do a loose one, I use a fine dusting of the compact one over foundation.

SwedeDreams · 23/07/2015 22:15

Corn silk is fabulous.

whinetaster · 23/07/2015 22:17

Corn silk satin one is great. Boots sell it- always hidden away with all the nail varnishes and cotton wool balls!

BearFoxBear · 23/07/2015 22:29

Yes to cornsilk!

sonata1 · 23/07/2015 23:28

Bought some Cornsilk on the recommendation of S&B on MN a few days ago and it is very good. A bit messybeing loose powder but best if you decant some into a smaller container and use with a kabuki type brush.

Nettletheelf · 23/07/2015 23:34

Corn silk is good, but the best is Collection (formerly Collection 2000) translucent loose powder. Somebody tipped me off about it a few years ago. It is excellent and stupidly cheap. Knocks spots off Clinique etc.

mowglik · 24/07/2015 00:38

I prefer the corn silk satin one to the Rimmel one it def gives a softer look

CeeceeBloomingdale · 24/07/2015 06:31

ELF do an amazing one but think they have recently closed their UK operation

Shonajay · 24/07/2015 07:50

I tried the cornsilk one, satin and matte, and found they oxidised terribly. It can't be the foundation I use, it must be me, but I also found them quite scratchy and lumpy, not nice and smooth at all.

Because I have pale skin I want a real translucent, I'd give the Rommel one a go but have decided MUFE is great for me, it hides open pores too.

Autumn2014 · 24/07/2015 07:59

I used to buy collection 2000 when I was a student nearly 20 years ago. Where would I find it now?

Autumn2014 · 24/07/2015 08:01

I used to buy from a local independent chemist

Lilacflower · 24/07/2015 08:08

Boots Natural Collection loose powder is great ! non cakey and really natural but lasts. Only £2 ! Also Corn Silk but it's £8, gives morw coverage but I think looks like you have make up on whereas the Natural Collection one doesn't. I have dry skin and don't wear foundation, just a bit of concealer and powdee

Autumn2014 · 24/07/2015 08:13

Thanks to the op for posting this question and to everyone else for replying suggestions

JustLikeHeaven · 24/07/2015 10:14

Thanks everyone.

I'm off to drag the kids around Boots. So I'll look at Rimmel (pressed) Boots Natural Collection and Collection 2000 if I can find it. And Cornsilk seems to be the favourite, which I've always shyed away from as it conjured up images of grannies in fox stoles and badly applied lipstick.

And theres a matt and satin cornsilk... will do some further research online.

thanks again.
