'Permanent' toenail varnish

Is there something I can do so that I don't have to reapply toenail varnish while on holiday? The only time I use any nail varnish is when my toes see daylight in the summer, so I know next to nothing about the stuff! Swimming etc makes it come off in ugly flakes, so is there something I can do or use so that I don't have to keep redoing it?

I use undercoat, two coats of Essie polish, and then topcoat, and I get two weeks out of my home pedicure. After that you can see the growth coming in, the polish is usually not chipped.

Hoolio is right - deet is terrible for patchy fading and it's in a lot of insect repellents, sun creams and after suns.
Wash hands and toes very thorough after applying or look for ones without any deet in.

ohidolike thanks for clarifying! There are some really good deals on Groupon for Shellac / Gelish - I'm going to give it a try.

My dd painted mine with some Barry M nail Colour then glitter then a top coat over them. Just over 2 weeks ago. Still not chipped.

I get shellac done every two weeks on my hands but my toes about every six.

I have found Chanel nail polish to be the very worst I've tried in terms of chipping. I once had a rouge noir manicure chip within six hours of painting - so the Chanel could also be your problem!

I agree. Chanel nail varnishes are the absolute worst!

Barry M is streets ahead and a fraction of the price.

I booked a pedicure and shellac!

I don't use the Chanel on my toes (or much at all, really) because the colour is just too delicate and genteel.

I'm not generally using sunscreen or insect repellant on my feet, so they aren't the problem. Most of my nail varnishes wear really well on my toenails, no chipping or peeling, until I get into water.
