Are multiple ear piercings still 'in' for 30s?

Discussion with friends recently. A few of us tempted to get 2nd and 3rd ear piercings - we are in our 30s and feeling a bit more rebellious with our style. But does it look too try hard on average office-working straight laced Londoners? Are additional piercings still "in"?

Do it! I had my second ones done a few years ago plus a belly button one... Had a tragus piercing a fortnight ago and I love it! Two women came in after me to get theirs done and they were older than me! I want a conch piercing next. I'm 43 by the way!

Piercings, like tattoos, should be done because you love them not because they are cool right now.
I have each lobe pierced three times, my helix pierced once on each ear but one is in the middle and the other is higher and I have my daith pierced in one ear too. I love them and will be getting my forward helix done soon too.

Not to derail, but I looked at the Stylists gallery and where do people find these cute tiny studs from?!

diddlediddledumpling · 18/07/2015 18:39

Loki I've been looking on etsy, have seen some nice ones. A lot listed as teeny tiny stud earrings.

Definitely not too old! Mine look like this..

To do it in the way it is "in" right now, stick to one ear, teeny weeny earrings and pref. gold.

I recently reopened my tragus which I let close over in my 20's when I changed my look, and have 3 tiny rings in the same ear. Just one hole in the other.

Just as it is if you are properly into piercings (as I was back in the day), less is more. Pincushions have never been in style.

And anyway, if you think it doesn't work for you, no harm done. They're not like tattoos.

I work in the creative industry, btw, so no issues with the workplace or clients.

I have multiple ear piercings and I'm in my 40s. Whether they are fashionable or not isn't a consideration for me. I like them.
I think that eyebrow piercings look really dated now. I still have mine though and don't plan on removing it.

Thanks for all the replies, really enjoyed hearing people's stories and reasons. Still tempted just need to consider how to make it work with my very straight laced look! I can't imagine it being remotely an issue at work. I think I see it as part of my "when I'm old I'll wear purple" philosophy!

I had 3 sets of earlobe piercings and a couple of cartlidge piercings in my 30s meh if you want to do it do it I took them all out by my 40s i felt i was to old

seaoflove · 18/07/2015 23:45

I wear labret studs in my earlobes, mainly (the second and third holes, at least) and 3mm and 2.5mm balls are really neat and discreet looking.

IJustLostTheGame · 19/07/2015 17:39

I've got normal ear piercings then tragus and cartilage up top. I want more cartilage piercings. I'm 34.

ShelaghTurner · 19/07/2015 17:51

I'm 43 and have three in each ear which I'm just about to put earrings in again after a few years of only wearing one pair in each. Having said that, I've just taken my nose stud out after 20 years but that was because it was pissing me off a bit!

bodenbiscuit · 19/07/2015 18:00

It's a personal thing but I had them done when I was 15 and by the time I was 21 had grown out of it and since then I only wore one pair!

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 19/07/2015 19:42

I'm 40 and I've got 2 lobe piercings in each ear and tragus and double cartilage in my left ear. I've had the lobe piercings for years but the tragus and cartilage are all recent - I can't wait until they are healed and I can wear pretty studs!

I'm planning on getting something done in my right ear when I can sleep comfortably on the left. I've also got my belly button done. I don't care if it's 'in', I love them!

HellRunner · 19/07/2015 22:06

I am on the wrong side of the slope to 50 - just! Three in each year. First at 7 then next two done by friends at 14ish. Currently I wear two in each but still check the third hole as dont want it to close. What I do need are some nice earrings!

DamsonInDistress · 19/07/2015 22:19

I have two lobe piercings in my left and one in my right. The second left one I have had done as a rebellion in my early teens and it healed over in my late twenties. In my late thirties I had a drunken New a Years Day brunch at a friends where I repierced it with my existing earring and it hurt like fuck the next day but I kept it and got a new stud for it, and I love it! Do what the hell you like, you're presumably old enough to have earned that privilege!

KittyB52 · 21/07/2015 07:26

I'm 42 and have 5 lobe piercings in my left ear and 4 in my right - they were symmetrical, but the fifth one was done too close to the edge of my ear so I took it out. Grin I got them done when I was about 20 but I don't wear earrings in them all now. I only wear tiny gold stud earrings in the top piercings in each ear, and then small hoops or dangly earrings in the lowest piercings. The piercings inbetween have half healed up now - can't get earrings through, but they are still visible. Sad

I would like to get one of the lower piercings done again, as it is slightly too low down, but I have micro lobes so don't know if it's possible. I'm too much of a wuss to get any other piercings done (and too squeamish about catching them when I brush my hair). Would like something though...

I work in quite an traditional company and the earrings have never been an issue. There are a few other women with different ear piercings - don't know the names of the ones higher up at the top of the ear.
