Hello, can I have opinions on this dress please? I'm getting married next month, it's going to be really low key and we're trying to keep costs down so I was planning on getting a nice high street from monsoon or similar. My lovely friend has however brought her dress from the 90s(!!!!) round to try and I actually quite like it?!
Is it too dated? It needs to be fitted and I would have the roses taken off the sleeves and them taken in a bit if possible.
I'm 5'5 and about 10 stone if that makes a difference. Could use the money I save for lovely shoes and a make up artist.

I think it will look fab once you ditch the roses!

Honestly, I'd take a vintage (is 90's vibtage yet?!) dress with a bit of personality any day over the bland offerings of Coast and Debebhams.

I think removing roses and sleeves and having it properly fitted would be beautiful, i think the sleeves have a bit too much going on............otherwise very flattering neckline and dress if fitted well:)

Thanks everyone will have a browse of the links.
Glad it's not a unanimous no though as I do think it's very pretty and I felt special in it. I just don't want to look like a 90s throw back!

I love it, apart from the massive flowers. Have them taken off and get it altered to fit (you're tiny!) and I'll be spot on.

My one concern is that it is very definitely a wedding gown, you say your wedding is going to be low key, will you feel over dressed? I had what I consider a fairly low key affair and would have felt a bit silly in a proper dress so I had an ivory prom dress which felt much better.

I think the trumpet skirt n that debenhams link will suit your height better as it will balance you out. The straight skirt will add height. Sorry not keen.

Its very 90's!! Not keen sorry.

Hadn't even thought of that! Too dressy for a church then village hall do?! Dp is in his kilt and argyll jacket so I do have to make a bit of an effort Haha.

Get rid of the roses and lace sleeves and it will be lovely.

I adore it! And how lovely to marry in a vintage-y dress from someone you care about, rather than a generic off-the-shelf buy.

What is your gut saying? If it makes you feel good, then do it I say! Grin

I like the lace sleeves- since Kate Middleton got married in lace, I'd say they've made a comeback.
