I don't wear make up at all. Just moisturiser.

But I'd like to look a bit more groomed. I'm losing weight and generally trying to 'up my game' a bit. On a tight budget but have got time most mornings to do a bit of something.

Pixie hair cut, brown with blond highlights. Small face. Very pale. Large eyes that are a bit protuberant so don't want to emphasise them. Want to look natural but groomed.

Any help gratefully received. Have looked on a few beauty blogs but I am overwhelmed already! Also I haven't a bloody clue about oils/serums/ pancake or whatever. So if you can tell me in words of one syllable I'd be very grateful!

I think if you're on a tight budget get yourself down to super drug.

Have a look at the vitamin e range. It's in cream packaging. They do a lovely hot cloth cleanser, face scrub, vitamin e oil, day and night moisturiser and eye cream. All very reasonably priced.

Makeup wise I'd go for a light foundation like bourjois healthy mix, rimmel translucent powder to set it and collection Lasting perfection concealer.

If you want to experiment with eye shadow the MUA range (again in superdrug) is fantastic. They do a lovely neutral palate for £4. Their blushers are lovely too £1 each, beautiful colours and they're not shimmery which I like for more mature skin.

A good neutral lipstick would be rimmel Kate moss in number 3.

I haven't got a favourite mascara, they're all pretty good these days.

I agree, a decent light foundation, a bit of blusher, a neutral lipstick and a flick of mascara is probably all you need.

You probably need to try a few foundations to see if they blend in nicely. Blusher-wise Rimmel do some nice stick blushers that you can just smudge in to the level you want for a bit of colour.

If you're not used to makeup, going for a foundation in the beginning is probably going to feel a bit much. I recommend you start with a good, cheap CC cream to start off. The palest shade should work (or at least it does for me and I'm ghostlike in shade) Try mixing a little with your foundation in the morning. It's a gentle way in and can make a major difference.

The Sleek rose gold blush is a good duplicate for the far more expensive Nars Orgasm that everyone raves about. Apply lightly with a good brush

The Maybelline mascaras are usually pretty reliable. If you find lipsticks intimidating, try a lip crayon instead as they can be a bit less intimidating.

That's brilliant, thanks so much everyone!

I am printing this out and will do exactly as you advise!!
