convert a shirt?

I have a pull-over shirt type thing - like this in principle

It's a gorgeous green colour and silk as well.

Sadly, my ever-changing chest doesn't fit too well into it! I bought it for a song at a charity shop. I was wondering if it would be easy for a tailor to convert it into a shirt with an opening, so to speak? It wouldn't have to have buttons but just to be able to have it open would be helpful. Anyone know about tailoring to know this? I don't know any local tailors but did wonder if dry-cleaner alterations might cover this if it's a case of cutting and doing a couple of seams. I wouldn't mind at all paying to get more wear out of it.

Yes it wouldn't be too hard. Just ask at the dry cleaners.
How heavy is the fabic?
You might be able to do it yourself with iron-on hemming tape.

It's quite lightweight
I don't think I could line it up nicely... Bit risky. I suppose I could try and if I stuff it up the dry cleaner could rescue it? If it's a matter of straight cutting and hemming then hopefully not too pricey anyway...
