Hairbands for adults? And advice for bobs

I've just had my hair cut into a nice blunt jaw length bob. I love it, but am wondering how to jazz it up a bit and specifically how I can keep it off my face at times (I have no fringe). Are hair/headbands (Alice bands) appropriate for a nearly 40 year old to wear? I could try scarves but my hair is so fine and straight that things tend to slip right off my head and a scarf probably wouldn't last 5 minutes. Help please oh wise ones!

I wear one of these at all times to keep my shortish hair off my face. You get them in packs at pharmacies or clothes shops.
Play around with how you wear it though because it doesn't look great when you just scrape the first inch of hair back from your face.

I like kitsch hair bands

I find either minimal sporty/sleek bands OR ott kisch/glam with the design element off to your best side work on adults. The hair needs to match (ie curls and volume for kirsch, sleek for sleek).

I also often use a scarf or bandana as a hair band, particularly if I'm wearing vintage, retro or reproduction clothes.

Bobby pins in an X are the key with slippery hair and scarves. Also a fine mist of hair spray or a touch of dry shampoo on hair and inside of scarf (if it's washable).
