I use a foot file on my heels, balls of feet and edges of toes 2-3 times a week just before a shower (supposedly it prevents cracking if you do it before!). Then I rub in a little foot cream (something cheap and cheerful), ideally every day, but in reality when I remember. Cut toe nails back. If skin has grown over your nails a little, gently push it back with a metal nail file or even tweezers after a bath (just needs doing once). Then apply some nail varnish.

It doesn't have to cost a lot, it's remembering to do it! I tend to forget about my feet in the winter so start the above off in spring, they look perfectly acceptable to me after a couple of weeks.

Foot files are excellent - use on dry feet on any flaky / cracked bits and then get in shower / bath
Use a body scrub all over feet if you have one to hand
Flexitol heel balm (about ?5 in Superdrug or Boots) on very dry bits every day, twice a day if really bad
Body Shop Peppermint Foot Lotion is moisturising without feeling greasy, absorbs quickly and is brilliant for hot tired feet
Cut / file toenails short and make sure they are clean. Mine are always polished but I think unvarnished toenails look ok so long as they are clean and short. Never ever chipped

Professional pedicure would cost ?20 - 30 if you can afford it. Do not be embarassed about the state of your feet, they will have seen so very much worse

Newton's Chiropody Sponge. I'm a former dancer and have loads of weird bunions and rough patches from the shoes etc. This has completely smoothed things out, with just one go.

I normally get them done with a blade as part of a pedicure but I genuinely don't think I'll need to any more

Start with a pedicure from a chiropodist and then follow up with Soap & Glory foot file and Flexitol heel balm throughout the summer

Tried footner but it didn't work very well for me and my feet were half peeling for weeks. I had a pedicure- nothing fancy just a walk in place cheap and cheerful. They use a razor thingy to take all the dead skin off your feet- amazing!
