I thought this was a basic...but I cant find anything
so far Ive tried:

Sports direct
Debenhams

Amazon
ebay !
Nike
Jd sport
M&M direct
and all of the standard high street stores - I'm seriously considering mens ones - but really they look just awful on me

I think these are the ones:

Problem is, I think the op is after running trousers and you couldn't run far in those Tesco ones - which is why the description says they're for low impact sport.

Yoga etc, fine, but the minute those cotton blend trousers get wet or muddy you're carrying heavy, flapping, trousers around.

flanjabelle · 15/06/2015 10:44

Surely that would be the case with any non tight like ones?

OnlyLovers · 15/06/2015 10:52

I'm not sure, OP, whether you want tight-fitting running legging type things OR more of a gym/yoga trouser, cotton, with a straight or slightly flared leg. (although I do see you don't want a fold-over top).

If the latter then have you tried TK Maxx? They often have Lululemon, Manuka, Calmia and other higher-end labels at knockdown prices. I'm tall (5' 10") and a size 8 and I find that these labels are often long enough for me without having to go for a size 14, which is what tends to happen in most cheaper high-street places.

Runningupthathill82 · 15/06/2015 11:30

Flanja - no, not necessarily. It's the cotton mix that's the problem with those Tesco ones.
Cotton is about the worst fabric you can do hard exercise in, in terms of holding onto moisture.
It is possible to get synthetic running trousers that aren't tight, though they're less popular for the obvious reason that they just aren't as practical. You also couldn't wear baggy ones for cycling in, as they get caught up, and many people only want to buy one sort of non-specific fitness gear.

OnlyLovers · 15/06/2015 11:33

You do get ones styled like cotton full-length trousers but in moisture-wicking fabric. Again, I see a lot of them in TK Maxx, although I've never tried on a pair so can't vouch for their comfort or length/fit.

I love h and m stuff

thenightsky · 15/06/2015 22:31

the H&M stuff looks nice, but is awful short in the leg.

(like OP I'm 35 inside leg)

BoulevardOfBrokenSleep · 15/06/2015 23:06

You might be better posting this in exercise...!

I run in USA Pro leggings I think i found in Sports Direct, they finish about mid-calf... Are you in the UK? Just wondering why you want full-length when it's sweaty here at the minute!

I mean, I get not wanting to shave your legs but mid-calf will hide most of my your gorilla tendencies.

darkness · 16/06/2015 15:39

Thanks for all the tips and pointers, I have followed all of them up
I have been to Gap - just incase they were a little longer than they said they were - but sadly not. And spent some time crawling along the lower edge of a number of sports rails in some obscure shops - nothing so far.
I checked out the rowers site - but was confused by no lengths being given on anything - have I looked in the wrong place ?
H&M and Tescos are too short

Boulevard the reason I want less grippy leggings around the calf at the moment is that I'm injured - not enough to lay me up - but sufficient that I have compression around my lower leg - and a quantity of stick on strapping to keep me going - it looks stupid - and tights - leggings grip it a lot more than they do skin. So my too short pants creep down.
I just thought I'd buy some a tiny bit wider around the calf...ha !
at this rate by the time I find something it might have healed ( well a woman can hope)

The frustrating thing is I'm not even all that tall - I just thought firstly - that this would be simple - and then - that I'd missed something - surely tall women dont all wear overstreched tights to run in?..and laughably - I'm too injured to catch up with the odd one I do see to ask them. I guess I could lurk and jump out at them...? or maybe not Grin

I wear them too short with socks to cover the gaps.

I wear long ones, even though it's hot and sweaty, because we do some impromptu x-c runs with the club which involve getting VERY nettled Sad
